Saddest thing in the world - I saw a post from someone near the bottom of the 2008 economic downturn, saying he was selling all his retirement stock while he still had some left and putting it somewhere safe.
The market has gone up roughly 500% since the 2008 bottom.   If dude put it in cash or gold or something, it's probably lost like a third of it's value, because of inflation.
And that's how you end up spending your golden years working, unable to retire.  (Divorce is the other reason people end up there.)

When it comes to economic predictions, everyone became a prophet in 2009. I met so many people who “knew the economy would crash” and say they saw it coming. Oddly, their prophecies didn’t stop them from losing everything. Or warning the rest of us.

Full-scale all out war is the only way for Israel to defend itself. All they have had is constant harassment and violence directed against them for over 70 years. No, they have a right to exist in peace.

The economy and commodities are such a weird confusing mixed bag of conundrum in my mind – I am not sure how good of an indicator (especially in the short term before the election) such things are.  In the entire history of civilization there has never been a drop in money supply that was not followed by a depression – I must emphasize a depression not a recession!  We are currently experiencing a drop in the money supply.  With war looming something very serious must give in our economy and supply chain.
I am not an expert, nor do I pretend to understand all possibilities, but it sure looks to me like all efforts are being made by both political parties (as well as the corporate and financial structures) to kick the can down the road and blame the other party for everything and definitely not to take any responsibility (even a minor responsibility).  I am concerned that any give that arises in either the economy or supply chain will result in a cataclysmic seismic shift.  And with our borders open I am concerned that the first effort of terrorists will be soft targets on our infrastructure which will exacerbate any financial or supply chain problem.
My hope and trust is in the revelations given recently (in the last few years of General Conference).   I am counting on the miracles President Nelson spoke of.  (woops sorry about the ending with a preposition).   I am of the mind and impression that things are so already in motion that the coming election will not matter much one way or the other.

that, and from what little I know Israel is a secular state with a large non-Jewish or “Jewish in name only” population. The citizens probably care more about not getting blown up or shot more than not fighting back on the sabbath.

If the enemy attacks on the Sabbath, you defend yourselves on the Sabbath. Israel should not be waiting until May to respond to such aggressions.

Oh boy, yes I reluctantly used Adam-God as an example of something that appears to be an instance of light and truth being taken away from the church because members couldn’t handle it, after you kept pressing me for one example showing that this possible.
At no point did I suggest in any way that every change in the church was an example of this. Certainly not for edits to the printed versions of Conference talks, like the Boyd K. Packer instance (which was an entirely different discussion).
At this point I think you are looking to find offense with my words, and I’m not really sure why that is. Perhaps my questions and suggestions make you uncomfortable. I don’t know. 🤷‍♂️

I really have missed this group!  My children keep having children, then they get married and you know the routine.  With the grands and great grandchildren...there are 32 of the little critters with another 2 greats coming this summer!
I read the highlights sent to my email, and inbetween dehydrating,  found time to sit down and say hi!

There hasn’t been an official statement on Adam-God in over 40 years to my knowledge. And the last statements that were made long ago contradicted what Brigham Young taught about it.

I totally agree with you that toxic masculinity exists, but it’s more silly than destructive. Andrew Tate and his followers are too ridiculous to be taken seriously.

For those who are just tuning in -
I have had a very unique, interesting, and "different" life than what most of experienced.
There are topics to where if I was to even *vaguely* go into any sort of discussion to any real depth, it would cause people to either glaze over or break down in tears... assuming of course they didn't vomit or freak right out first.
Well, by day, I write for a series of newspapers. I do a weekly op/ed and a weekly movie review, and sometimes other material from there.
Between my word count restrictions and my audience, I have to be very careful as to what I discuss, how I discuss it, and what lesson I want my audience to learn (if any). I also have to make sure that what I write is something that is accessible to all but the youngest readers.
If there are things I don't talk about, it's generally because either there is some restriction in place that prevents discussion or I know that my audience just isn't ready to handle it. Yes, I've actually done entire *series* of columns just to cover a single topic or series of related topics so that people understood what was going on and why I felt compelled to mention it.
So sometimes, when people don't infodump on everyone, perhaps you should give them the benefit of the doubt.

No worries. I see it the same way I always did. It’s a cliche and old people use to whine about young people and wash their hands of any accountability that they have.

It reminds me of people who are divorced four times, look in the mirror, pat themselves on the back and say “I did nothing wrong. Everyone else is a narcissist but me.”

No, it isn’t. Boyd K. Packer said in Conference back in 2013, I believe, that it should be considered a revelation, but then in the printed version of the talk it was changed to “inspired council.”

There's also a hefty dose of good old fashioned Old Testament-ey prophetic warnings and calls to action in it:
The forces working against the family are pretty much everywhere now.  Plenty of voices decrying outdated European models based on an oppressive patriarchy, plenty of sympathetic ears.

My question is ignorant and I apologize for it, but is the family proclamation also considered revelation?
