  1. It does seem at times when seeing resume of accomplishments and education, that many of our earlier leaders would not be called upon. On a lighter note, they called and asked me to do it...I declined due to previous naps I already have for the remainder of my life. :)
  2. Her companion is also in a coma from the same accident. You can read about it on the Church website. God bless them and their parents. Just not right to have to bury a child. Thank our God no one will ever have to bury anyone.
  3. "Legalistic" is an anti-term often used against LDS for believing commandments matter as it relates to being righteous. Odd chose of words, although I think it innocent on your part. We believe the words of Christ, "If he love me keep my commandments. Also Matthew 7: 21, that we must obey the will of our Father in heaven to enter the "kingdom of heaven".
  4. I'll accept your apology, because as a believer I should. I am sorry to hear about your wife. But I wonder how a "believer" yourself can have contempt for the same. Also, no believer puts God in a box, people try to put people in little boxes so they can difine them easily, like...oh that person is mean, or ugly, or stupid, or sinner, and on and on. They (or we all at times) do so because it takes work to know all that they are, good or bad. But it is worth it and required of us by God, to try and find the good and not to judge them, and it is also worth it. God grant us the desire and ability to do so.
  5. I do and believe it is why he used it...so sad.
  6. I find you thread to be rude and condescending. You are suggesting that the Church send missionaries into a country illegally? Especially a country that if caught their parents may never see them again! Your post seems to show contempt for all believers; why?
  7. 100,000 years of peace, absence of sin and Temple work for the deadwho did not come forth with Christ. Also the realization of the scripture, "Men (women) are that they might have joy" Not to mention living on earth with Christ our King.
  8. I miss the words of Neal A Maxwell, written and spoken as well.
  9. We were just responding to your entire thread...not just the thread title. Forgive our concern.
  10. Maybe I should have asked; who is the person that has inspired you to be the best person you can be? Meaning, Mom, Dad, brother, sister or friend.
  11. Just to put it in human terms so we can nderstand.
  12. There is a line from a movie, the lady who said it (speaking of her Mother) "for better or worse she is the voice inside my head". So a question (seriously) who is the voice inside your head? Who drives you (living or dead) to be best that you can be? Mine is my dear Mother who passed away last year, God rest her soul. Also my Father who adopted me and my other siblings, when my bio-Father left my Mother and us leaving our family homeless. My last name used to be "Nation" now it is "Lee". Since the name "Lee", I vowed never to bring shame to that name, to the loving Father who gave it too me. God bless them both...they loved without condition. From both of them I learned kindness and how to be a Father and Grandfather. I miss them both!
  13. Not me...or did you answer my post be mistake. I am not a follower on Facebook.
  14. Interesting question...it is "increase" so sure. A really bad joke; would that make it blood money? :)
  15. All the more reason to rejoice that repentance is available.
  16. You know the saying..."Dogs have owners and Cats have staff". So good luck with that one. :)
  17. You might be linking many unrelated scripture...the rainbow is to remind us of God's promise to never destroy the world by flood again. So not sure where you are going with this. The Holacost, the 20 million killed as a result of the Russia Recelation and the "killing fields" bears witness that far more evils have been around in the last century, more so than Gay Mariage.
  18. God our Father encourages friends and associations, and the command as it relates to those in Church to strengen and edify us...as long as they are doing so and not dragging us down. Calling yourself a failure is not productive as failing only need be a temporary part of life. Also we learn a great deal from our failures...so not always a bad thing.
  19. Today my youngest child and son Caleb was married in the Atlanta Temple. Last night there was no sleep as I pondered all that this means. This morning I got everything ready I could to ease my wife and son having to feel hurried. During this controlled chaos it felt much like any other time we were hurrying to get out the door when I looked up and saw him going out to the car. Behind him he was pulling a large suitcase and my heart began to ache, much the way it did when he went on his mission. Then while on the way to the Temple we stopped to see his new apartment and reality could not longer be ignored. His mother and I are working on our 40th year of marriage. When I met my dear wife she came from difficult circumstances and had a one year old child...I fell in love with them both. Having come from a broken home my mother met a man who would marry her and adopt her three children. I began life with the last name "Nation" and now it is "Lee". So following his righteous example I gave my name (my father's name) to my new daughter. So my wife and I have been together 40 years and now for the first time, we will be "empty nesters". It is a good and odd thing...so here's hoping I don't mess it up. I would love some advice to others now "empty nesters". Not however with 7 grandchildren and school getting out next week, the games and fighting have already begun as to who gets to stay over at Nanny or Papa first :)
  20. Sadly, so many EV's are also identifying as Calvinist...the belief in predestination of salvation. The idea that man cannot choose God, but that God chooses them...no free will but irrestiable Grace.
  21. We just don't know, so in the absence of facts we should not to seek to establish our,own facts.
  22. At 10/11 they need to be getting used to being in class together anyway.
  23. It is because we are still attracted that makes comitmiment so meaningful. There must be opposition in "all" things.
  24. BYU is funded by the Church, and since the Church does not recognize or sanction SSM, I doubt it.
