That is just silly...taxi drivers get robbed. They don't die while protecting others, in the course of their sworn duties.

Of all the issues I had to deal with in the military and law enforcement, being assignated was usually not one of them. The badge I carry now is my retirement badge...which is in my City of Atlanta badge holder. The weapon I carry does not screen police, except the fact that I don't conceal it and carry it like it has been there all my life. I can only wonder how the wives of police officers feel today, as opposed to my day. Sadly the more police that get killed will have three terrifying results...
    1. Good men and women will leave the force
    2. Some Police Officers will become more aggressive...leading to more hate groups like "Black Lives Matter"
    3. Some Policer Officers will be more gun shy out of fear that no matter the choice they make their lives will be over due social media.
    What is the answer?

Pa Pa got a reaction from Blackmarch in Evidence of modern day Prophets, shown in restraint of new proclamations.
I recently did some research on the Church of Christ (RLDS) and found that almost every "Prophet" since the split within the Church in 1844, with the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith, have published new canonized scripture. It seems to me the outsider that each Prophet have tried to publish scripture as evidence that they are "indeed" Prophets.
This juxtaposed to our leadership, where nothing has been canonized since 1918 (other than in proclamation or Manifesto form). This type of restraint and absolute reverence suggests to me that those called and ordained do not feel the need to publish, but to proclam. These men do not see the need to add anything unless called upon to do so by the Lord. It is a quiet form of leadership, one in which these men are changed by the calling instead of trying to change the calling.
Any thoughts, agree or disagree. Much of what I am talking about is based of reading about the lives of these men, from Joseph to Tomas...the simple humility of Joseph's predecessors who are there simply to serve without fan fair, for the most part.

I feel like I have to do this often, though I think that comes with being the only Mormon some of my friends know. It's a very interesting blessing to have, to be sure.

I'm looking forward to being able to explain my faith further in the near future to my family. There's much they understand, but still a lot that I could do to help them more.

It is odd for me, I joined in 1979...he has always been an Apostle. Goes to show how long a man can serve and be a positive influence. I was already living in Germany when Prieshood changed. I remembered reading about it, thinking that is was odd, that Balcks could not hold the Priesthood...I did not even know what a Mormon was. Jest a few months later, I would be a member.

I want to tread lightly here...is this your child? If so the Church will never let you go on a mission and if your child, you are his father. If it is not your child and you are worthy, seek out God with prayer and fasting. I was adopted by my step-father because my bio-father left my mother and three children, turns out he married another woman and had a child by her while still married to my mother. We were left alone and eventually homeless for a time. I married a young woman (we were same age) who had a child, I adopted her and gave her my name as my step-father (my real father) did for me. His good example gave me thee courage to do the same. Now I have five grandchildren through my daughter. I do not call her my adopted daughter, because she has been my daughter for 39 of her 40 years...and she could no more be mine than if I had given birth to her myself. Do the right thing according to the right thing as led by God and do so with faith.

    I don't understand it...
What many do not know, is that the leading cause of death among those who have sex change is suicide. One cannot simply ask for a sex change operation, you must be cleared to insure you are not at risk. Despite the many screening processes, it is still leads to depression and sucide at alarming rates.

I'll accept your apology, because as a believer I should. I am sorry to hear about your wife. But I wonder how a "believer" yourself can have contempt for the same. Also, no believer puts God in a box, people try to put people in little boxes so they can difine them easily, like...oh that person is mean, or ugly, or stupid, or sinner, and on and on. They (or we all at times) do so because it takes work to know all that they are, good or bad. But it is worth it and required of us by God, to try and find the good and not to judge them, and it is also worth it. God grant us the desire and ability to do so.

Pa Pa got a reaction from Maureen in The voice inside my head...
There is a line from a movie, the lady who said it (speaking of her Mother) "for better or worse she is the voice inside my head". So a question (seriously) who is the voice inside your head? Who drives you (living or dead) to be best that you can be?
Mine is my dear Mother who passed away last year, God rest her soul. Also my Father who adopted me and my other siblings, when my bio-Father left my Mother and us leaving our family homeless. My last name used to be "Nation" now it is "Lee". Since the name "Lee", I vowed never to bring shame to that name, to the loving Father who gave it too me. God bless them both...they loved without condition. From both of them I learned kindness and how to be a Father and Grandfather. I miss them both!

You might be linking many unrelated scripture...the rainbow is to remind us of God's promise to never destroy the world by flood again. So not sure where you are going with this. The Holacost, the 20 million killed as a result of the Russia Recelation and the "killing fields" bears witness that far more evils have been around in the last century, more so than Gay Mariage.

Today my youngest child and son Caleb was married in the Atlanta Temple. Last night there was no sleep as I pondered all that this means. This morning I got everything ready I could to ease my wife and son having to feel hurried. During this controlled chaos it felt much like any other time we were hurrying to get out the door when I looked up and saw him going out to the car. Behind him he was pulling a large suitcase and my heart began to ache, much the way it did when he went on his mission. Then while on the way to the Temple we stopped to see his new apartment and reality could not longer be ignored. His mother and I are working on our 40th year of marriage. When I met my dear wife she came from difficult circumstances and had a one year old child...I fell in love with them both. Having come from a broken home my mother met a man who would marry her and adopt her three children. I began life with the last name "Nation" and now it is "Lee". So following his righteous example I gave my name (my father's name) to my new daughter. So my wife and I have been together 40 years and now for the first time, we will be "empty nesters". It is a good and odd thing...so here's hoping I don't mess it up.
I would love some advice to others now "empty nesters". Not however with 7 grandchildren and school getting out next week, the games and fighting have already begun as to who gets to stay over at Nanny or Papa first :)

    When My Mother Prays
    When my mother prays
    Angels take their flight,
To guard my way by day
To protect me in the night.
When I forget in whom I trust
    And bow on bended knee,
There is one who won't forget
To plead my case to Thee.
    In darkness I have walked,
    Not knowing well the cost.
A voice is heard on high,
    Before my soul is lost.
    In sickness and in health
    Circumstances though they be,
    My name Thou can't forget
When my mother prays for me.
In the purest form of love
Her prayers for me are heard.
    In language know to Angels,
    In the simple spoken word.
    And yet these words ascend
    To Thy throne exalted high,
    Request for promised blessings,
    Which Thou cannot deny.
    Blessed is her name,
    Her devotion knows no bounds.
    In her quiet secret place,
On her knees she will be found.
    With courage I will face,
    The trials of coming days.
The heavens shake for my good,
    When my mother prays.

Pa Pa got a reaction from Leah in ROBERTS: If Sue loves Joe and Tom loves Joe, Sue could marry him and Tom can't. Why isn't that a straightforward question of sexual discrimination?
My youngest daughter (now 30) is gay...she has a "wife", I have decades members long friends who have grown cold to me as a result. My daughter helped with my youngest son (via assistance help pay for his mission) and comes over every Sunday with her spouse for Sunday dinner. Some of my LDS friends think I am encouraging her by letting her come over with he spouse. My daughter nd I are very close. But I love her as I do with all of my other 3 childern. I love her with all my heart and would lay down my life in an instant for here. As far as any childern she might adopt or have through artificially, I would treat that child I would treat like my other 8 grandchildren. But God and nature has already passed judgment on the children of those...they cannot reproduce and even if adopted, in short they cannot ensure if they would be gay. But like all others we should be loving and compassionate, just like all God's children, that we remain blameless before our Father and Saviour, that we remain the worthy children of our Father in Heaven. Because I need to remain forgiven and bathed in the blood of Christ. God help us all to b the same.
