  1. Not really much else to add. I think most of your feelings you should talk to the bishop. Lucky its Tithing settlement time. (maybe you should take two slots). But I think you need to explain to the bishop what the root of your feelings are. Its not that you aren't getting home teachers. I'm also sure there is probably some ward christmas party. Maybe you can ask around and see if you can help with that some. I guess what I'm saying is the way you feel apart of the ward is by serving the ward. I'm pretty sure you would do anything for any kids in your primary. Now we just need to get that same feeling for the rest of the ward. Its not going to be easy, and it might not show fruit for a good while. My current HT companion would never go out if I didn't drag him out. I have had good and bad Home Teachers over the years. For a while I got so use to not having them I kind of liked it (more nap time). But after having good ones for so long I do kinda miss them. You can't do anything about that, all you can do is be the best HT to your families and bring the spirit into their home.
  2. Thats a good point. It very well could have been written out on the first set of plates, but when Moroni was copying it over to the Golden plates (where he was already running out of room) it made more sense to shorten it (to him). Even though Moroni still was able to put part of the name (at least once)
  3. At work! Wow Still trying to figure out if TitanFall is worth the money. It technically doesn't have a Single player game. Even though I think it will have some story mode. I did play the open Beta, and had withdrawls a week later. I do wonder if it will get old fast. Then again I'll probably just sell my Call of Duty Ghost (for xbox one) and buy titanfall.
  4. I know what you mean. I never could figure out what people would talk about. Being Single (in a family setting) I never felt like I have anything worthwhile to say. (most people seem to have a way more interesting life than I do). Sometimes if I'm in a conversation my mind will just go blank. Not fun if its on a Date. Then I realize I just need to speak what comes to my mind. Yes sometimes what comes to our mind is a little sarcastic. Or maybe not always what should be said. So it does take some training. But after a while. The thought that comes into your head about that scripture, or what you liked about that paragraph, raise your hand and say it. Sometimes I start to say something and realize I have no idea what I'm getting at. Other times I start saying something and I realize I didn't have a point. Thats going to happen. Others times you can tell the teacher needs a couple of seconds to regroup, so speak up just to give the teacher a break. I'm going to assume you know the gospel. I assume you read and study the scriptures. So all people want is for you to share your view and testimony of the gospel from your point of view. Its not as hard as you think once you speak what comes to your mind.

  6. More inspiration. The Church knows how many Missionaries need to go to each mission. I know Church leaders are involve in the process, looking at each missionary assigning where they feel they are needed. I know I have heard stories of Church Leaders putting a missionary in one mission. Then came back and said no we think he needs to go into another mission. something like that.
  7. Driving home and heard this song on the Christian music station. Plumb | Don't Deserve You | Need You Now 2013 - YouTube Thought it was a good song for V-Day Bonus songs Plumb | One Drop | Need You Now 2013 - YouTube
  8. You kind of have two questions. No you wouldn't die before the Millennium. Second, you are correct there is no death in the Millennium. People are twinkled like we say. (once you read the age of tree right?) Being Twinkled is that your body changes from a mortal body to some type of immortal body. Does that mean you actually die for a second (Your heart stop). Who knows. But I sounds like there isn't time to plan a funeral.
  9. Reading and praying is good. Keep doing that. I assume you are going to church. To help in your studies you can read some lessons from the Gospel Principles manual https://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles?lang=eng You might already have a manual. Read through it. Even take time to look up most of the scriptures they are talking about. You can also take time to read the Ensign, and Listen/Watch/Read the last General Conference on lds.org. I don't expect you to do this every day. But one day read through the lesson. Maybe the next day you just look up the scriptires from the lesson, the next day do a search on lds.org for some topic. (they also list a lot). The next day read or listen to a Conference talk. Do you believe in the Word of Wisdom? https://www.lds.org/topics/word-of-wisdom?lang=eng If you do, you minus well keep it now!
  10. You don't need to be perfect, but you do need to show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that you are willing to make a covenant with them. That does require some things. If you are living with some of the opposite sex, then you have to split up (move out) or get married. If you are drinking you have done what you can to quick drinking, same with smoking. Really we go through the repentance process. (which means we are changing). Once we reach that point we have repenteded of passed sins we make the Covenant with Heavenly Father. But we aren't perfect, but we are trying to be.
  11. The Endowment is close to an 1 hour 45 mins (really probably 1 42 mins) but give or take the size. For me it usually seems to be close to two hours from the time the session starts to the time we get to the celestial room.
  12. I suggest you read 2 Nephi 4 Also Like a Broken Vessel - general-conference
  13. Not knowing more then what you have explained. I say --go on a mission. You will gain a lot more from going on a mission then not going. Yes you will be older when you finish school. But when you are 35 or 40 years old and you hear people talk about their mission which one do you think you will look back on. Go on a mission!
  14. Federal judge rules Utah same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional | ksl.com Not good. Probably not as much about the Issue, but more that it seems like voters have no power.
  15. I assume you have seen this page AutoHotkey Tutorial: Macro and Hotkey Creation
  16. That is an interesting idea. But it looks like its only for mobile devices. Not really for your tv (I guess you could hook up your mobile device to your tv). Does seems like an interesting idea.
  17. I'm sure you have check out Mormon.org | What is the Mormon Church and Religion?
  18. I think you know the purpose of Church. Actually as I started to type that up, I realize you have the the idea that a lot of people have. The difference between the Church and the Gospel. So first I assume you want to be Active in the Gospel? I assume you believe that there is a God, Heavenly Father? I assume you believe that Jesus Christ is his Son, and Atoned for your sins? That is the gospel. The church is there to help us live the Gospel. I'll just let this talk do the rest. Converted to His Gospel through His Church - general-conference This can be good and bad. It is wrong for others to judge you. But the guilt you feel because of them judging you, has shown you your weaknesses. This is actually a good thing! You realize more the things you need to work on. You realize you aren't like the others at church. Let me be clear, we shouldn't judge others. But we have to look at what they are doing. They want you to come back to the church. Honestly they might feel uncomfortable around you. But you have use that to evaluate yourself. If what ever they are judging you on is unfounded then don't worry about it. If it has some truth, then use it to change for the better. I assume you want to be better? Motivation comes from within. You have to find the reason you want to get to Heaven (with your spouse). I assume you want to get to Heaven? Celestial Kingdom? Jesus Christ is there to help us get there. As you taught so many people on your mission we made a covenant with God. We do our part, He does his. We renew that covenant every week with Sacrament. We want to be better. Is this easy to do? Nope! Is it hard! Sure is! I assume you also belive in Satan. Satan does not want you to be happy. Satan wants you to give into the Natural Man, the Lazy side of all of us! Its actually Natural for us to be lazy. Thats why you have to find the reason to keep going to church. For me this comes from feeling the spirit. Its not some big thing every week. Some weeks I probably don't even pay attention if I felt the spirit or not. But I know with Scripture reading, Prayer, and going Church, they work together to bring a spirit into my life. I know it can be brought into your life too.... if you want it... which I assume you do.
  19. I look at it more where God need to "start over". So it might not be a complete apostasy. but it is a start over. For example with Noah and the flood. God needed to start over. You could even say with Moses and wandering the wilderness was God's way of starting over.
  20. My Advice. I try to be a step a head. Its not always easy. So I try to plan ahead a week or even a month ahead of time. What things the Presidency needs to know about. Any meetings they might need to go to and so forth. I spend most of my time is getting the other three to get me Home Teaching numbers. Some are easier then others to get. I even made it easy by putting together an Google Doc sheet that they could enter them in. Sometimes they still wouldn't use it. You do have to be patient. I do the roll on sunday. Technically the church only gets the numbers for Home Teaching and the role ever 3 months (ever Quarter). So technically you don't even need to get them the other two months. But I do, just so every stays in the habit of it. When we have our Presidency Meeting I create some type of agenda. I had been a secretary before in other calls so I kind of had a basic Agenda layout. I use to have 5 sections. One area for old business, (this was mostly used to remind us for old things we talked about, but our current Presidency tends to just talk about each item). Two Upcoming events. I would log into LDS.org and go to the calandar. for our stake/ward. I would put down any items that would would concern the Presidency. The rest of the agenda I would have three sections all for the three different missions of the church (Perfecting the saints, Proclaiming the Gospel, and Redeeming the Dead). I still do feel this is should the focus of every presidency. For use we would only have stuff to talk about with Perfecting the saints. I kind of have dropped the other two. Obviously we would have an open and closing prayer which would be on the agenda. But I also would assign somebody to give a short thought. This does make more work on my part because I have to let them know ahead of time (and keep track). But I really do believe having a thought does bring in the spirit. Last, we have gotten in the habit of having little meetings at the church like during sunday school. This really aren't meetings with an agenda, and thus because we have talked about the stuff we need to, we don't have an official meeting. Yes these probably do have there place. But I realize we get so much more done when we have an actually meeting. Talk to your presidency about setting up meeting times. We started out having them the first and third sunday. Try to stick to it. Even if you don't think you have stuff to talk about. You probably do. We tend to struggle with PPI's. (Could be because a lot of people don't do there Home Teaching in our ward). I use to call everybody to set up appointments. That did seem to work pretty good. I then found out people could do it on the set day we had scheduled. So now we pick two sundays to do them on. (Usually the last sunday and the first sunday). I also have started to just bring a signed up sheet early. Let people sign up, and then I try to find those in Primary and Young Mens. I then would just send them a reminder text about the PPI. Good Luck.
  21. Like other have said, It was Mormon that took all the records and put them together. Actually the Lord told him to do it. Mormon put his name on the book, Joseph Smith didn't come up with that name, he translated it from the first page.
  22. doesn't ring a bell. Have you searched lds.org? I think they have conference back to the 70's. I know Pres Hinckley talked about that a few times. But I don't recall him saying anything like that.
  23. You can if you want to, but you don't really need to go around explaining why left. Honestly not many people really need to know, only that you are coming back. I don't know if your ward has a Gospel Principles class, but thats a good place to start and they always like it when people ask questions or what things clarified. At least get a manual.
  24. First I suggest you start reading the Book of Mormon. Read as much as you can here and there. If you don't still have your copy of the Book of Mormon, I assume you have a smartphone? (because pretty much everybody does). You can actually download the Book of Mormon onto your phone or tablet. Second, you start to say your prayers (which I assume to some degree has already happen). Third, I suggest you read or listen or watch General Conference. When I read most of what you said, this talked came to my mind which is from April, but I think its a start. I do suggest you watch it (you can still put earphones in so nobody hears you). Lord, I Believe - general-conference Fourth, remember what the Holy Ghost feels like. Remember there is a spirit that told you this church was true. We talk about the spirit speaks to us, but its more of a feeling. Once you feel it (again) you know this isn't made up. Good Luck.
  25. I don't know where you are located. But I have found that the Plus 31 wards are few and far between. They are out there. But some of them are really plus 55. If you can find one that is great. But going to a family ward even though it seems like the end of the world, it really is not.
