  1. It's the fourth of July week so that some people may travel for this holiday. I plan on two days next week with the possibility of doing other days if requested. The two days is Sunday the 30th and Monday the first at the same time at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. I may have the game earlier if two people show up. The location has not changed: It's still on DALnet through IRC in channel #lds_trivia. I hope to see some people then. More information is on the game's website. Note: There will only be one game these two days, so if a game happens on Sunday, there won't be one on Monday or for the rest of the week. I'll post if a game happens, or I'll remove this post.
  2. I am a new member who is discussing marriage with my current boyfriend who is a member. He is civilly divorced with 1 child. He is still sealed to his ex wife. I have some questions and concerns about the fact that he can't unseal from his ex wife. Everything I read online is very conflicting. Some say he can unseal, some say no, some say he needs permission from his ex wife, some say one of them needed to either be abusive or commit adultery for an unsealing. I have also read that if he gets a 'clearance' and we are married in the temple, then I will only be married to him for a time and he will be with his ex wife for eternity. This is bothersome to hear, as I wish to be with him for eternity and for any children we have to be with him as well. I have also read that a lot of people don't understand the feelings of a 2nd wife being concerned about him being sealed to two women and for the 1st wife to keep the blessings when she broke the covenant of remaining married to her husband. It is not natural for any woman to feel comfortable with the thought of their husband being tied (married, sealed, connected) with two women for eternity. Forgive me, but isn't multiple marriages no longer practiced and accepted within the church? Also, if the ex wife wishes to be with him for eternity and they are still sealed, but he wants to be with me and not her, who does God say yes to? He can't say yes to both. Everyone says, God will not force you to be with someone but how does that work when she is asking God to be with him? If she asks to be rejoined to her ex husband, am I then cast aside? If the ex wife and my boyfriend never get back together, then they are breaking their covenant under God and therefore, how would she receive the highest blessings by remaining sealed to him? All of this is very confusing and disheartening. I am still learning and don't fully comprehend scripture on this matter. Any insight and clarification would be appreciated. Especially from any woman who deals with the hard place of 2nd wife. Thank you!
  3. I know it's not much notice, but I'm hoping to have a game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles tonight, Sunday the 23rd, at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. I am done with school so that I can do other games on a different day of the week. Let me know what day. Information on how to get to the game is on its website.
  4. Okay, it's been a while. I am almost done with school, and I just moved to a new location, so I didn't have access to the computer with the capability of playing the game. (It's only on one computer.) There's probably not enough notice for tonight, but I'm hoping to have a game either tonight, tomorrow, or Sunday. I'm setting a time at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern, but I am open to change it. Let me know what time you'd like. The location has not changed, so if you want more information on how to get there, visit the game's site. As for game changes and whatnot, I haven't had time to work on the game. I wrote a few questions, but that's about it. We'll see. I'm going to make posts in my new ward and my old ward in an attempt to get some players. Let me know if you have questions.
  5. Okay, an opening has come up in my schedule for Sunday, 24 Mar, at the usual time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. The game may start earlier if two people show, and I'm ready. I'm done with school until a week from Monday. (Boy, that's not a lot of time.) I don't know when I'll be able to have games, but I'll announce here when I'm available. IRC is an older form of chatting, but it's still great due to features the IRC client I use has. Without its scripting capabilities, I would have to use other methods. The games would last a lot longer, and it may not be as fun. I'm still writing questions, but puzzles can be the hardest to write. Writing a combination of small and large puzzles is difficult. As for other days in the week, I'll announce the day before when one or more spots open. Thank you, and I hope to see you there.
  6. It's been a while for a game due to personal reasons. There are two days to possibly have one game: Saturday (now today) and Sunday (tomorrow). The official time is 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern; however, the game can start earlier if two or more people show ready to play, and I'm there, too. For more information, see the website.
  7. This week's trivia game session is only tonight. I'm not available the other nights this week. Once again, the game starts roughly at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. It may start earlier if two people show up. For more information, see the website.
  8. Okay, I thought I posted about the game sessions this week, but I didn't. My apologies. Normally, it's Friday and Saturday in addition to Sunday, but today is a snow day. Add tonight to the mix with a start time of 6 to 7 PM Pacific, 9 to 10 PM Eastern. For more information about the game, see the game's website.
  9. Okay, it's time for the game sessions for the week of 3 Feb to 9 Feb: Sunday, Friday, and Saturday at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. It's the day of the Super Bowl, so Sunday's session can start late, but the on-time bonus is not given. Further, I'm going to send an email to the subscribers of the list with three questions. Whoever subscribes to the list should get that same email. I hope to post three questions for each session next week, too. Anyway, I hope to see some people there. For more information, visit the website.
  10. Okay, it's a new week. For the week of 20 Jan to 26 Jan, there are four possible game days of LDS Trivia and Puzzles: tonight, Monday, Friday, and Saturday. I'll keep the time at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Monday is a day that a game can't start late. I'll post three pre-game questions to the mailing list in a moment. I hope to see some of you there. More information on the website.
  11. Okay, next week has three days for games: Sunday, Friday, and Saturday at the same time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. The first one will be today--tonight. I'll try once again and post three questions to the mailing list. If a game doesn't happen, I'll post again later in the week. See the website for details on how to get to the game.
  12. The first week of school is one day from finishing, but I hope to have one game in the next three days. For consistency, the time will still be 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern, but it can start up to two hours after six. Details on getting to the game are on the website. I made a change to the script, but I haven't updated the website, yet. The !pick and !guess commands are now optional. In fact, using the wrong command, except !puz, will still be accepted for what is asked. The !puz command is still recommended, especially for the player in control.
  13. (I forgot to put a message here about the next game.) This is the last week off before going back to school, and I have time this week to do a game, but I don't know which day. If anyone wants to have a game, please let me know of a day and time for one. Remember that I'm on Pacific Standard Time. Any times given without a time zone indication is on that time zone. If the time zone where you're at isn't known, indicate the country and the nearest major city, and I'll find out. More details on the game's website.
  14. Okay, I would like to have a game this week, but I don't know what day to use. Since I'm out of school literally for the year, AND I no longer work, this gives me an opportunity to one game after Christmas this week, but I don't know what time. Let me know when to have a game. I'm on Pacific Standard Time, so please give a time in that timezone. If that isn't known, please tell me the nearest major country and city you live, and I'll look it up and adjust it. More information on getting to the game is on the website.
  15. The next game is tonight at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. More information on the website. Remember that subscribers to the notify list will get three pre-game questions to try to earn points at the start of the game.
  16. Okay, school is done for this year, so I hope to get one game done this coming week. After this week, I don't know when the next game will be due to personal circumstances that I won't say on Facebook. The two days is tonight on Monday and Wednesday at the same time. Remember that subscribers will get an e-mail containing three pre-game questions that can earn points at the beginning of the game. I hope to see you all there. For more information, see my website.
  17. A game didn't happen on Friday, so a game occurs on Saturday at the same time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. I hope to see someone then. See the website for more information on getting there. Subscribers of the mailing list got three pre-game questions to answer before the game starts. Players can start the game with points.
  18. Since I have time off from work, I thought it would be nice to take a break and play a game that occurs either Friday night or Saturday at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. I will post if a game happens on Saturday or time for next week. Either way, I hope to see people there. See the website for more information on how to get to the game. Remember that subscribers to the mailing list get three pre-game questions.
  19. The next game will be tomorrow, 2 Dec, at the usual time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. The notify list got three completely random questions. The answers are submitted at a certain point when the game starts. Remember that there's an on-time bonus of 5,000 for arriving at the game before 6 PM Pacific. I hope to see you there. Go to the website for information on how to get to the game.
  20. Here's a reminder that a game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles starts at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern tomorrow. Newsletter subscribers already got three questions, so please go to the website (http://www.ldstrivia.org ) to subscribe and get it. Whoever can give me the correct answers when the game starts will earn points. Being on time gets a bonus, too. Hope to see you there. By the way, a game can be done on Thanksgiving, but that will be done if people actually request it. It's a day to spend with family, but I can host a game if asked.
  21. In the past, going to general conference priesthood sessions often felt like presenting myself to be punished for a crime I didn't commit. Priesthood holders have been repeatedly told they needed to stop exercising "unrighteous dominion" over their families and stop verbally or physically abusing them. Women, in contrast, seemed to have just been reminded they are selfless, wonderful, special spirits. To my relief, as deserved as the rebukes may have been (the average men are idiots, you know), the priesthood rebukes seem to have softened a bit (an observation also noted by another ward brother). Nevertheless, it still bothers me; don't sisters ever abuse people? I know women may be less likely to physically hurt a family member but, as we all know, emotional scars from words can last as long as physical scars. My wife and her siblings were severely abused verbally by their mother and this legacy has been unfortunately felt in our home. I know several couples where the husband seems to be the abused one (dare I say they are brutally "henpecked" and criticized). As part of an informal poll, I am asking: is this relatively female version of abuse actually a common-but-understated thing in the church?
  22. The next game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles is tomorrow, Monday, 12 Nov, at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. All subscribers of the mailing list got an e-mail with three completely at random questions to answer. Only subscribers will get this. To get this message, please subscribe on the website: http://www.ldstrivia.org/. If you don't get the e-mail after subscribing, let me know. Anyone who is at the game on time will get a shot to answer those questions that won't be shown in the channel. Whoever gets the questions correct will get the points. Remember the on-time bonus still applies. I don't know if people are trying to sign up but can't due to technical problems. Let's have some fun and learn about the gospel at the same time. I hope to see you there.
  23. I thought to post when the next game is because it will be different than usual. Because I work on Sunday, I will not have a game; however, it's a school holiday on Monday so that I won't have school. I can hold a trivia game that night, which will be at the usual time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Think of this as a GREAT Family Home Evening activity for the family. I'm going to try something for this next session to get people in. First of all, whoever shows up on time to the game will get 5,000 points right off the bat. Additionally, the day before, I'll send an e-mail to all subscribers in the notify list with a reminder of the next game AND three completely random questions. I will not change the point values or mark them as used. The objective is to get people to come to the game by thinking about the questions, including looking them up. Try to answer first before looking them up, please, but I can't enforce this. The people that show up on time to the game will get the answers and points if they provide the correct answers before the game officially starts. The newsletter will contain the right answers, which is sent only when after playing a game. If you want to sign up for the notify list and/or the newsletter, please see the website, send me an e-mail, or PM me here on Facebook. If you have difficulty signing up, please let me know. I don't know if people are trying to sign up but can't due to technical problems. Let's have some fun and learn about the gospel at the same time.
  24. Okay, the next LDS Trivia and Puzzles game session will be Sunday, October 28, 2018, the last for the month of October. The time is still the same: 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Remember that arriving on time gets 5,000 points right off the bat. I hope to see people there. Remember that I can only do these games once a week now due to school.
  25. Brothers and Sisters, I have written on this site before and have deeply appreciated and also enjoyed the responses from my posts. Since then I have spent much time on this site https://talkaboutmarriage.com/forumindex.php perhaps to my own peril, but the constant stories of infidelity, which are obviously not healthy to continuously read upon, are definitely making me paranoid that my future partner (whoever that may be) will default to mortal "imperfection" and even up develop an emotional/physical affair with someone else. I think it is developing as a huge paranoia of mine even though I have personally not been cheated on. Ive noticed many situations where people have been blindsided by their spouses betrayal and abuse, and it truly appears like the worst type of pain in the world. Its actually something one of my professors briefly discussed in one of my religion classes and like he said, the infidelity of ones' spouse can inflict pain upon ones soul. It is unlikely that I will remain in isolation and avoid women (LDS) for the rest of my life, so if any of you wise brothers and sisters have advice on what has made your relationships successful and has nullified the fear of spousal betrayal, would you mind sharing it? Thanks P.S I recently read this story https://talkaboutmarriage.com/coping-infidelity/370602-wife-choosing-other-man.html and in many ways, it reminded me of a relationship I was in not too long ago where I had a strong desire to marry this person. These stories do make me feel slightly unsure that if we had taken the direction of marriage, that I also could potentially face the same result.
