  1. Why a vineyard? The Chapter heading says,"Jacob quotes Zenos relative to the allegory of the tame and wild olive trees—They are a likeness of Israel and the Gentiles-" but the chapter talks about a vineyard rather than an Olive Grove and/or an Olive Orchard... " 3 For behold, thus saith the Lord, I will liken thee, O house of aIsrael, like unto a tame bolive tree, which a man took and nourished in his cvineyard; and it grew, and waxed old, and began to decay." Jacob 5:3 Jacob 5* I know that The Book of Mormon is true...:) Thanks for your help!!!
  2. Has this happened before? Have you read the article? What is the review from the Mormon world?
  3. anyone of you who knew where can I get a video clip about the conversion of alma the younger or the full movie if its available. thanks^_^
  4. I recently started a website called Scriptures 4 Kids . The purpose of the website is to provide parents with the tools that they need to make daily scriptures a reality for all children no matter where they are or how much time their parents might have. The site provides reading on four different reading levels so that the book can grow with your children. It also has audio narration for children that can not read or who just are not in the mood. Since I got the site up, my children have not missed reading once. In our family we use it as a reward. "You get to go read your scriptures when your responsibilities are done". We want our children to learn that the scriptures are a fun and wonderful thing that should be a part of their daily lives. Prior to getting the site up it was not feasible to read individually with all six of my kids. My favorite part of the site is the "question to ponder". After each story there is a question. The question is intended to teach the children to learn to apply the scriptures to their lives. In our home I ask my kids, "What was your question today?" This frequently leads to thoughtful discussions between me and my children. I want my children to make gospel conversations a part of their daily routine. I just barely got it up 2 weeks ago. It took me 5 years to do all the art and text and to get the site coded. I hope that it will be used to teach our tech savvy kids true gospel principles. Kids are so inundated with technology these days. I hope that Scriptures for Kids will help to make sure that some of that technology helps to teach them about Jesus Christ. I would love to hear what others think about the site. How do you make DAILY scripture reading a reality for young children? Is this a priority for other mothers out there? Thanks for letting me share!
  5. I was reading 1Nephi 11 and was struck by how similar this chapter is to the endowment. has anyone else noticed these similarities in any other books of scripture? moses and abraham come to mind.
  6. Hello I want everyone to know that I changed my blog address from mormonelder.blogspot.com to therealmormontruth.blogspot.com Thanks
  7. Hello all! I'm new here, so I really don't want this to sound spammy, but I just launched a Book of Mormon Trivia game for the iPhone and I'm hoping to get feedback about it. It looked to me that the General forum would be best place to do this, so here I am :) It's my first iPhone app and I'm very excited about it, there's over 200 Book of Mormon questions of varying difficulty (some of them are really hard!) with more on the way, and it lets you see what questions you got wrong and what the right answers are. I'd love to hear from everyone about what features you'd like to see, or anything you'd like changed about the app. If you've got iTunes you can find the app here: iTunes Store Thanks! -- Orien -- Sticky Buzz Software
  8. Hello to everyone, I am glad that I found this site so now I can stay in touch with LDS members and non-members who have a desire and will to do good. Tomarrow I go back to work and work all weekend long. I work in Law Enforcement and enjoy it. I hope that I can keep a positive attitude about my job and always treat people with love while enforcing the law. I never want to become a bagde heavy person. I started a religious blog on blogspot about 1 month ago. It is mormonelder.blogspot.com I enjoy teaching others about The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints. I also enjoy clearing up false ideas and misconceptions about the Church. Today has been a great day. I spent all day watching my little boy while my wife slept. We had fun playing. I am grateful to be a member of the Church. I love my Heavenly Father so much. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. They have both been so good to me despite the things that I do and say that wrong. 7 years ago I left on my mission and I still think about all the great experiences that I had to this day. I love my wife and my little boy and enjoy spending all my free time with them. I know that Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ live. I know that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God. I know the Book of Mormon to be true and that it testifies along with the Bible that Jesus is the Christ. I leave this with you wishing everyone well. Take care, Chad
  9. Jerry Ainsworth expressed a few of his thoughts on "the south countries" in this morning's issue of "Nephite Evidences", the free monthly newsletter from Mormon Sites. 11. For many months now I have been working on a project involving the Book of Mormon, which I will be unveiling in the near future. As part of that project, I have compiled an outline of the textual structure of the Book of Mormon. I looked for an existing outline, but couldn’t find anything extensive enough for my needs. I am making it available here for anyone interested (as a PDF document). More info at: An Outline of the Textual Structure of the Book of Mormon Sixteen Small Stones

  13. Hello! I've been studying history of the church and parts of Book of Mormon. Just recently I ran into some elders at a local eatery and they invited me to church. It was quite interesting.:) Can someone show me where I can find an online version of the Book of Mormon and Doctrines and Covenants? Thanks!:)
  14. In August of 2005, President Hinckley gave us a challenge. He said, "I offer a challenge to members of the Church throughout the world and to our friends everywhere to read or reread the Book of Mormon." His challenge was to finish the book by the end of that year. For anyone interested in reading the Book of Mormon by the end of THIS year, join with me in my goal to have it read in 100 days (starting on Tuesday, September 23rd). I am one who always does best with a support group behind me, and I love to offer encouragement to those working on similar goals. I understand that many of you are already immersed in your own study or are focusing on different books of scripture. For any who are willing to start from the beginning, I invite you to join a Book of Mormon Study Group. This will not be a topical study. It will be chronological. To join the group, you will need to be prepared to account for your success or failures in keeping with the reading goals. A sister in my ward invited us to join her in this challenge (the above are all her words, not mine). As it has been some time since I have read the Book of Mormon in its entirety, and for various reasons I did not participate in President Hinckley's challenge, I eagerly joined her study group. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this study group, and to give an accounting of my reading. I also am better when I have to check in. So I invite each of you to join also. We can discuss in this thread our study for the week, and individual insights we may have gained. I will update this post each week with that week's reading assignment. Week 1: September 23 1 Nephi 1-18 I know it's a lot, but for me, if I can make it through this assignment, I'll be able to do the rest...this is the hurdle that is hardest to get over. Week 2: October 1 1 Nephi 19 - 2 Nephi 13 Sorry I am late in getting this week's reading assignment sent out! I figure you're all just plugging along in your reading. I think it is best that we stick with the average of 2.5 chapters a day. Week 3: October 6 2 Nephi 14-30 Week 4: October 15 2 Nephi 31 - Words of Mormon Sorry I'm late again...was out of town and away from a computer.
  15. I would like some advice from my LDS friends. I have read the Book of Mormon eight times this last year(not bragging, I just read a lot and read fast) and would have to say it has become one of my favorite books, whether it is fiction or not. I even encourage my friends at the university to read it, not as a missionary, but I tell them it is amazing that a hick in the early 1800's wrote it. Some have taken me up on the challenge. If you want to read my thoughts as an agnostic on reading the book look at my personal belief comment on it. It has led me to read further so I've read the Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, Jesus the Christ, Articles of Faith and A Marvelous Work and Wonder. I have read plenty of stuff by un-Mormons. Any suggestion on good, more recent, LDS books that would help me learn more about church history, Joseph Smith, LDS beliefs and practice?
  16. I anm reading the Book of Mormon and am enjoying it immensely. I have been a member all my life but grew up on bible stories. I forget that the BofM is scripture and so to me it is a wonderful history book, which it is. My problem is that we are told that if we adhere to the concepts in it we will draw closer to the Lord. So far I haven't found any concepts that makes the B of M any different than the Bible. I am really puzzled, am I looking for more than what is there? I have read the B of M 2 other times but never before has it been so appealing to me. I have a hard time putting it down and can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would have a hard time reading it. I am about chapter 11 in Mosiah. I pray about reading it, but so far haven't read anything that would make it so profound. Like I said, I love the book and am learning some wonderful history about our great country but am I missing the spiritual picture here?
