Okay, here's the reminder about a game on Sunday, 21 Oct 2018. It will be at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. If no one shows up to an hour after this time, no game will be played until the next time. Unfortunately, I'm only able to hold the one game this coming week because of school and work. I don't have a lot of time to work on the game as much as I did during summer break. I hope to see some people there. If there's a problem finding the game or a suggestion for another time, please drop a line, either by commenting or from the website.

Okay, no one showed up during conference weekend. I'm at a loss as to what time will work for people; however, I'm not going to change the time. Due to school and actual work, I won't be able to have a game later this week, and I work next Sunday, so the next game won't be until 21 Oct at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. I guess IRC is just not a popular medium for chatting, or people aren't talking on-line anymore. That is a good thing. (People not talking on-line anymore is a good thing.) I'll keep trying. Edit: I forgot to post the URL for the game's website. If people want to play but can't figure out how to get to the channel to play, please drop a line by either replying here or sending me an e-mail at the website. Please give me as much information as you can, so I can help.

Okay, conference weekend is upon us. This is a perfect time to have a game. Two are scheduled to occur on Saturday night AND Sunday night at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. If I get any responses about it being earlier, I may have it start earlier. If you are interested in playing, please see the website (http://www.ldstrivia.org) for more information and/or ask questions here. Even though two are scheduled, only one will be played, so if a game plays on Saturday, there will be no game on Sunday. If that happens, I will announce it. I hope to see some players.

Since I started school last Wednesday, I only have time for one game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles each week. Sometime soon, I hope to add Fridays, so I'll announce when that will occur. Until then, the only session will be on Sundays at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. The idea is to have a session after dinner, my time, and after all church sessions, excluding firesides and other meetings that night. A lot of people view Sundays as family time, so think of this as a great family activity. It's preferred to have individuals play instead of teams. I hope to see someone tonight. Correction: I forgot I have Saturday off this week. This allows a game session; however, it's General Conference weekend, so the usual time is during the evening session, which I believe is the women's conference. I'll have the game at the usual time unless I get feedback to make it earlier.

Okay, the next game will be on Sunday night at the usual 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. The other two days will be Tuesday and Friday at the same time. One game will be played this week, so I'll announce when a game is played. Okay, it's football season, so some of you may want to watch football more than playing trivia, but if you can, I suggest recording it. I start school on Wednesday, so after next week, the only game day will be Sunday night. If you have questions about how to get to the game, please ask, either here or through private message. I can't help people get to the game if I don't know about it. Further, remember the time zone is Pacific, which is -7 GMT with daylight savings. For the other side of the world, the game would be in the morning the following day. I suggest Googling what time it is in Washington state to see how much time you are apart from where I'm at. Okay, when originally planning for the next game, I didn't know I was scheduled to work Sunday, so that means Sunday's game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles will move up a half an hour to 6:30 PM Pacific, 9:30 PM Eastern. However, it means I'll have Monday and Wednesday off, so those days are available for a game at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Please remember that being there before 6 PM Pacific will get 5,000 bonus points. If I'm late, and you're there when I arrive, that's 5,000 points. I hope to see you all then.

Okay, no game this week. I'll try announcing earlier than just 24 hours. I don't work Saturday, but there's a devotional, so there won't be a game then. Unfortunately, the next game will be Sunday at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. For those outside the United States, that would make it about 10 AM in Tokyo and about 11 AM in the middle of Australia. That country spans about four time zones. Daylight Savings can throw a monkey wrench into time zones. To get a better time, compare your time zone to GMT -7.

People should be able to subscribe to e-mails that talk about the game AND when the next game session will be.

I am a convert(meaning I joined the church later in my life instead of born into church) of 10 years. My family joined the church together. I love the gospel and the church. As a YSA (Young Single Adult), I hear a lot about importance of family and mother’s role in the family and having children. I fully understand why it’s important to have a family and have children. But it’s becoming clearer everyday that I don’t want to have kids. I wonder if I will ever be able to find someone to get married in the temple when I don’t want to have kids. I have dated someone seriously and this was one of the things we couldn’t agree on and we ended the relationship after dating for couple of years. Coming from a single-parent home, I am fully aware of the hard work that is required to be a good parent. As much as it’s taught in the church to have children when you are married, I sometimes feel that importance of being a good parent is not emphasized as much. Although I fully respect and love my mother for doing what she does to raise me and my siblings, I sometimes wonder how much happier she could have been if she didn’t have kids. She would have been able to leave her abusive husband much sooner. She would have been able to pursue her dreams and goals to be the person she wanted to be instead of being a stay at home mother like it is often asked of in woman. I thought that maybe I don’t want kids because of what happened between my parents and because I understand the struggle when the marriage falls apart. I’ve done therapy, prayed and fasted to know what it is I should do. I studied my patriarchal blessing and hated myself for being so different. But I just can’t seem to be the person woman are taught to be in the church. Should I give up hope to find someone to get married in the temple? I don’t know if I should date anyone or even put myself out there. Part of me feels it would be selfish of me to look for an eternal companion when I can’t be the ideal person they look for. I sometimes feel like a damaged good for not being able to want the life that every girl dream of. Is it wrong for me to want the eternal companionship without wanting to have kids? Some of you may say that it’s just a phase because I have been told that when I talked to people in church about this. But it’s not that I don’t love kids. I work with kids and I really think they are so precious and such a sacred blessing to have in this world. It makes the cruel world a little better place. But I really don’t want my kids to go through the pain of having a parent who didn’t want to have kids. Children deserve better and I can’t be what they need. I don’t want kids when I will love them and take care of them because that’s what I am obligated to do instead of doing it because I want to. I think about this everyday and I would appreciate your input.

A game didn't happen Tuesday. I hope to have one tonight at the usual time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. More information on the website. For those of you that use Apple electronics, I do not know how to access IRC networks with the Apple store. I suggest to look for IRC clients in the Apple store and pick one that looks good, download it, and try it. The website has more information on accessing it using other methods, and I hope it can help with configuration.

I'm hoping to have a game tonight and/or Thursday at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. For those that are interested in playing, please help spread the word. IRC used to be full of people chatting, but something happened to have no one want to talk there anymore. (This is a good thing, because people aren't spending a lot of time talking online, which is what I did over 20 years ago.) I someday hope that I can get a big enough community of players to stop by, chat, and learn about the gospel in a fun way. Until then, I need help. I have a day off, so I hope to have a game session tonight at 6 PM Eastern, 9 PM Pacific. Once again, it's on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. I hope to see you all there. It's difficult to let people know about the next game if I don't post it. Further, people don't know that a game session happened on Sunday. It wasn't a full game, but a player was there for three rounds. Details about the game are on the Facebook group LDS Trivia and Puzzles and when I get the web site finished and posted.

Okay, it's time to host a game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles Sunday night at the usual time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Once again, it's on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. I hope to see many people there. I added a winning streak record. It starts at zero, and when players break it, bonus points are awarded, but MORE points are earned when broken at one time. More details will be on the web site once I get it finished.

. . . Doing this game helps me keep up with the gospel. When I script test, I actually play, and I've gotten questions wrong and even confused me on a few. I'm not sure it's a good thing if I can confuse myself with questions. . . . I want to remind everyone there are many ways to get onto an IRC network. I choose to use DALnet, because the script is written for that network, and the network created the features that other IRC networks use, especially registering nicknames. To get onto an IRC network, search for "IRC clients" on Google or your app store. If you need assistance, please ask here. I hope that other people with similar or the same problem can be helped at the same time. I've made some changes since the last game. Some were already implemented, and some were added this week. One, there is a jackpot that accumulates when questions are missed. I updated it to include missed opportunities to earn points. The jackpot is awarded randomly to players that answer questions correctly. The odds get better the longer the jackpot isn't claimed, and higher point value questions get more chances. I'm still thinking of other ways to add to the jackpot. Two, I now added a pause feature after a question is asked. Even when I was playing, I felt there just wasn't enough time to think of an answer for questions, especially when more than one correct is needed. It's even worse with really long questions. I added a formula to add a pause in three second increments based on the question's length in number of words. *Really* short questions will have no pause. Three, I added some stat tracking. Of course, the main point of the game is to answer trivia questions, and everything else, especially the puzzles, are bonus points. The script is now going to track the number of correct answers each player gets. It's also going to track the average point value of questions. This average takes into account two and three answer questions. Finally, it tracks the questions asked and the number of right answers. I decided not to track the amount of time, because I have to manually look for correct answers, and it could get messy, let alone inaccurate. Educated guess questions is a little different where the player gets right answer credit only if a right answer is given. However, it will count for winning streak purposes. I could probably go into more, but this post is long enough. Besides, I still need to get a web site up. I think this will be the ticket to getting more people to the games. Doing a 24 hour trivia game is not possible right now, and it defeats the purpose of having a human.

Okay, I forgot that tomorrow is Father's Day, so there won't be a game Sunday evening. However, there may be one on Monday night. I don't know if I'll be home in time for Monday night. I'll post something if there will be a game, but there may not be much warning. After Monday, my next day off is Thursday, so I hope to have a game then.
