  1. Hello. I'm new in the forum. I am LDS. I joined because I enjoy gospel discussions and don't get to scratch the itch as often as I would like. Not sure what else to say but feel free to ask!
  2. Hello all! Just joined the page a few day's ago and decided i'd give a quick, short introduction of myself! You can see some about me on my profile page as well. I am laid back and I love to meet new people. I've come here to do just that and to interact with all of you on the message boards. I enjoy meeting new people of different backgrounds, faiths and customs. I get along with just about everyone and hope to meet a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. I am also here looking to strengthen my testimony of the Church and to learn more things. Always looking to expand my understand of the Scriptures, as well as Gospel Principles. I am not officially a member of the Church, as i've never been baptised. But i am meeting with Missionaries at the moment and actually have been on and off for the last few years. I hope to FINALLY get baptised and become a full member of the Church within the next few weeks. As I beleive in the Church and have a strong desire to preach and teach others about it. I love camping, hiking, taking walks. Traveling and seeing/doing new places/things. I enjoy writing, reading and scripture study. I also enjoy debating with people when I feel passionate about a subject. And helping other's to understand things from other perspectives. Anyway , before i drag this on to long.. I just wanted to say hello, nice to meet you all and i look forward to interacting with all of you on here. And getting to meet many of you (hopefully!) and feel free to drop me a comment, or message me at any time! I am also on Facebook, with a link to my page in my profile. Feel free to add me on FB! Thanks for taking the time to read this and May God Bless you all!!
  3. Hi everyone. It's been a very long time since I've posted on an online forum. I was reading several posts and enjoying people share their experiences and support each other. I was previously involved in the LDS Church and joined as a convert when I was 19. I left the faith about three years ago, and recently had some conversations with a couple of members who encouraged me to come back. I've been attending church and it's been challenging. Maybe I can share more about my situation later. I hope to get more connected with all of you as I pass in this phase of my faith journey; it's really nice to see such a variety of faith and spiritual backgrounds!
  4. I'd like to introduce myself, because there's this forum, see. And I'm such a follower that I had to post this. Member since childhood. Married with many children. Polymath and Renaissance man. Recently relocated denizen of Texas. Enjoy cutting the trees in my jungle. Yeah, this is a new one. Who knew? So far this group looks like a place I could feel comfortable with.
  5. Hello, my name is Alexander. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I grew up Christian, going from church to church but never finding one that fit. When I was 17 I abandoned Christianity entirely and investigated several religions, eventually becoming Baha'i. In the past year I have abandoned all religion, but now feel that I am being drawn back to Christ, though I'm not sure why. Most of the traditional Christian beliefs here in the Bible Belt are things I just can't accept. I cannot accept Original Sin, because I believe it requires accepting a literal interpretation of Genesis (which I find preposterous). I can't accept "sola scriptura", because I don't believe the Bible or any other holy book to be infallible. They've been around too long, and ancient copies of the Bible do not match up with the current versions. I feel that if there is Truth in the Bible, or in any other holy book, it is necessary that God, if he exists (which I am honestly not 100% sure about), would make it plain to you. That is, I think the real use of a holy book is for God to speak to you through it, to use it as a voice. I can't understand why I would need a savior, because I don't really feel like the way I live my life is wrong. And, again, if the need for a savior is based on Original Sin... Well, I just can't accept that doctrine. So, why exactly am I here, on a LDS forum? Because I want to understand. I keep feeling pulled back to Christ, despite all these disagreements with Christian beliefs, and I keep feeling pulled to the LDS church (even though I feel my lifestyle would be more acceptable to a more liberal church, like the Episcopal). I want to know why. And I'm hoping that by communicating with people here, maybe, just maybe, things can be made clear. I promise you that I will be respectful while I'm here, though if I disagree with someone I will make it clear that I do. Not because I want to start arguments, but because if I explain my disagreement maybe they can show me a fault in my thinking. I hope that I'll learn something while here, and maybe even be able to contribute to the conversations constructively.
  6. I am Rodney Ross, a new member of LDS.net. I have come here because I am a member of FairMormon.com and have heard that our organization will be working with LDS.net. I am impressed with the site. I am 70 years old, married with three children and eight wonderful grandchildren. I am from California, but have lived in Arizona since 1971 (see wife!) and currently live in Gilbert.

    Hello All

Hi everyone I just wanted to say I look forward to talking theology with everyone and learning from each others esperiances and wisdom. Cheers!
  8. Hello everyone! I just joined mostly to find a community of like minded people to discuss life, the universe, and everything with. I'm from Utah, but sometimes even in the midst of many LDS people, it is hard to find people to have a decent gospel/church related discussion with. I'm excited to participate in the LDS.net community. See you around!
  9. Hello Everyone! My name is David Prisco and I came to this board hoping to find out some information about LDS. A friend of mine and I were out talking the other day about what is true and what is a myth about LDS and googling to find the answer didn't really help. So, when I found this board, I thought, what a better place to start! So, anyways, long story short, wanted to introduce myself as I'll be posting on this board to ask some questions and find out more about LDS. Thanks you very much for having me!
  10. Hello! I am so glad I finally was able to make an account. I have been baptized for almost three weeks now! I got baptized on my birthday (symbolism much) and feel that its the best decision I made for my family and I. I am currently divorced with two wonderful children (one of each got so blessed!). I work at a hospital and hopefully will be going for my nursing degree very soon. I have a wonderful boyfriend who ...although is not LDS (at the moment ) ...he is very supportive and willing to look into the church and meet with the missionaries after his deployment! Anyway just wanted to introduce my self and hope to meet some great people here!!!
  11. I joined LDS.net today. Introductory I statements... I struggle with MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities) and often cannot attend church meetings because of the perfumes/colognes/chemical cleaning products used in the buildings etc. Hence my increased interest in an online forum. I depend on natural remedies, yoga, epi-paleo eating & meditation to help manage the physical realities of my life. I love the healing power of music & sound frequencies. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and am currently serving a 2nd Mission with my husband. Sandi55
  12. Just saying hi from Alaska, where it's been unseasonably warm the last couple days since Christmas, reaching as high as the freezing point. Quick rundown: Member of the church since baptism at age 8, but not born into the church (my parents joined after my birth); originally from the east coast; married (to another easterner, but she's an unambiguously lifelong member) with children still at home. I'll probably be lurking more than posting, but you'll see me popping in here and there.
  13. Hi , I do not plan on spending a lot of time here, but I feel like it would be appropriate to introduce myself as an LDS member. History: Raised LDS from birth, baptised a member at 8 years old, currently 18 years old and active in the Church. Skills/Activities: I like to do "Melty Art," an activity in which you melt beads after assembling them on a frame by an iron with wax paper. I can type an average of 70-90 WPM, and am quite capable of most computer activity. Also, I can play the piano quite well with currently 10+ hymns in decent playability. I go to as many church activities that I am invited to, and hope to go to even more. As a preparing missionary, I hope to be serving my Lord within a few months time. Thanks for viewing my introduction! -Alex
  14. I am active LDS. From a child have been very interested in LDS doctrine and history. I am a college professor and realize the hazards of intellectualism (2 Nephi 9:28 & 29) but also realize that the Lord put us on the earth to learn and reason. I am here to learn from others, offer an occasional comment if I think it would be helpful to another. Hope others will do the same for me.
  15. Hello! I'm Emma, I've just joined this forum for more advice and to learn more. I'm 25 and from England. I'm not a Mormon but it's something I have become very interested in over the past few months. I took a detour on my way home yesterday just to drive past the church! Looking forward to chatting with you all :)
  16. Hello Everyone, I'm new to the forum, so I am just introducing myself. I live in Texas with a stunning wife, 2 year old son (yesterday) and a 3 month old son. Excited to be here! Colton
  17. Hello everyone! I wanted to take a second to introduce myself: I'm a student with my wife up here in the pseudo-arctic Rexburg, studying mathematics. I've been here for a few years, served a mission in Mexico, born and raised in the Tampa Bay area (Florida). I grew up in the church and had many wonderful leaders and friends to help me along the way. Are there any fellow mathematicians or people with an appreciation for nerdy humor? Peace and love~
  18. Hi! I'm a busy mom of three young children. We are Catholic with one Mormon in the family and so I thought I'd sign up to get to know the LDS community a little better.
  19. Kevan and Terri Clawson I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah; served a full-time mission to Pennsylvania, where I first met my wife, Terri. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple and have five children (and many grandchildren!). I have served as a full-time missionary, a local Seventy, a Ward Mission Leader, and as a counselor in a Stake Mission Presidency—in all, over 15 years serving as a missionary! Over the years I have taught classes in Gospel Doctrine, Gospel Essentials, Temple Prep, Missionary Prep, Stake Institute, Teachers Quorum, Seventies Quorum, High Priest Group, and many other classes—in all, over 10 years as a teacher! Terri has also served faithfully in many callings in the Church (Stake Missionary, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Primary Chorister, Primary Pianist, Choir leader, transcriptionist for the Church Historical Department, Ward Librarian, Genealogy Teacher, and in many other ward and stake positions). Since my wife Terri shared my passion for serving and teaching others. we have been blessed to serve together on a part-time mission working at the Utah State Prison, teaching inmates ESL, English, and job skills; as well as serving with a group from LDS Charities aboard the USNS Mercy (a hospital ship that went on a five month humanitarian mission to Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Timor Leste), as part of Pacific Partnership 2010. I worked with the Seabees in remodeling 32 medical clinics and schools; while Terri worked in-country as a medical provider giving medical care to the poor. For most of my life I have been in construction and roofing, having worked for large commercial roofing companies in Utah, Connecticut, and Ohio. As strange as it may seem from my background, I am now a writer. I was prompted to begin writing books by Elder Hugh Pinnock, who served as my mission president in Pennsylvania. In 2000, I was laid-up with back surgery (all those years of roofing!) and decided that I should finally do what Elder Pinnock had been prompting me to do—write a book! The first to books were developed out of my deep faith in Jesus Christ: “The Atonement of Jesus Christ” and “The Second Coming of Jesus Christ.” After reading an entry from my great-grandfather's journal about a special blessing he received at the hands of the Prophet, Terri and I began to study the doctrine of ‘election.’ Because of Terri and my mutual interest and inspiration concerning the subject, we co-wrote the book “Obtaining Your Calling and Election.” Unfortunately, Elder Pinnock died before any of my books were published. My fourth book, "Becoming a Great Missionary," was written as a tribute to Elder Pinnock. It contains the teachings and lessons I learned from Elder Pinnock over the years. Sister Anne Pinnock helped to edit the book, and wrote the introduction. Terri was born in Steubenville, Ohio. She was raised in Columbus, Ohio, and then her family moved to Bloomington, Indiana, and eventually to Warrington, Pennsylvania, where we first met. Terri attended BYU and graduated with a degree in Microbiology. It was at BYU that Terri and I met again, and courted. After raising their five children, Terri decided to go back to school to gain a Masters Degree as a Physician Assistant, with the goal of serving in underprivileged areas of the world. Terri was well prepared for this step: she had worked in medicine all of her life: she worked as a candy-striper when she was young, as an ambulance worker in inner-city Hartford, as a Medical Assistant for several doctors, worked for years as a Medical Transcriptionist, and as a teacher at Utah Technical College. Because of her wide experience, she was well prepared to return to college and become a PA. So far she has fulfilled that dream by running the medical clinic on the tiny island of Tinian for two years, by serving aboard the Mercy, and now by working at the small medical clinic in Martin, South Dakota-- right in-between two of the largest Indian reservations in the country. Perhaps Terri's most unusual and impressive accomplishments were associated with home construction. Terri began by finishing a basement, then built a garage, then an addition to a home, and finally ended up building her own 3,000 square foot home in South Jordan, Utah. It's true! Terri built her home with her own two hands: from framing the home to installing the plumbing, the copper heating system, the electrical systems, etc. She is also a gourmet cook, has wonderful needlework, and is a computer wiz (she worked as a consultant to doctors and medical offices, working with them in selecting and installing computer programs for medical use; and helping to organize medical offices to make them more efficient). Time would not allow a list of all the talents Terri has developed over the years (she also sings beautifully and plays the piano), so let the foregoing simply wet your imagination! Terri and I are currently living in Martin, South Dakota. While Terri works in the small clinic there, I continue to write. You can read about our various adventures by visiting: Tinian Times (about our time living on the tiny island of Tinian) The Clawsons on the USNS Mercy (about our time spent aboard the USNS Mercy during Pacific Partnership 2010) The Clawson Chronicles | Just another WordPress.com site (about our time living in Martin, South Dakota) The website to find our books is: Welcome from Kevan and Terri Clawson
  20. Hello. I just signed up for the forum! I am looking forward to the discussions and getting to know people. I used to use an LDS related forum around eight years ago until it shut down and I have always wanted to find another forum, but it wasn't a priority. While searching for various LDS related things on Google, a link to this website popped up and I jumped at the opportunity to sign up for another LDS related forum.
  21. Hi Everyone. My name is TGoldstein and I guess I should introduce myself by sharing what brought me to this site. I am a new Mormon, born and raised in Judaism. I love the church and I know that it is true. There is a life in my light that never had been until January 3, 2009 when I was baptized. I am a mom to two beautiful children. My son, is with me in spirit only. He died in 2007. However, I know that he witnessed my conversion and his little sister's too. Now he is waiting for his work to be done. My daughter is 18. She was baptized on February 21, 2009. She's been attending the U of U for a year and is transferring to BYU in January. GO COUGARS! The love of my life is my husband. We have been married 25 years and I know that what helped us weather the storm of our son's death is the church. He is not a member and doubts the existence of God. However, he's very supportive, loves delivering meals to the sick, attending potlucks and organizing the Chili Cookoff! I pray that one day he will be willing to study his seed of faith. Professionally, I have a degree in journalism with an emphasis on public relations. I use my education everyday as a fundraising executive for a vision organization. I love spending time with my family and my cats. I enjoy reading, walking outside, listening to the rain on the rooftops and making a meaningful difference in the world. I welcome introspection and making positive, personal changes. I'm becoming very crafty.

  23. I have just started becoming really involved with lds.net. I'm hoping I will get to know many new people. So, to know a little bit about me, I'm a stay-at-home mom with two kids ages 3 and 1. I've been married for 3 1/2 years; my husband and I were sealed in the St. Louis Temple. My life was just about lost before I accepted the gospel. I've happily been a member of the LDS church for about 4 1/2 years. After being introduced to the Church by a high school friend, it only took me 8 years to finally decide to be baptized. :) Fear of what my family might say or do is what held me back. I'm glad to be here! I hope we will learn a thing or two from each other.
  24. Hello everyone!!! MY name is Caroline and I'm typing directly from São Paulo, Brazil. Yes, I'm Brazilian! I subscribed myself in the beginning of October in this website and I have enjoyed soo far, also for some new friends that I've met here and other things too.
