  1. Okay, time for a game Tuesday OR Wednesday night at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. More information on the website. I hope to see you there. If a game happens on Tuesday, I'll post that there won't be one on Wednesday. I hope to have the subscribe function of the site operational. People should be able to subscribe to e-mails that talk about the game AND when the next game session will be.
  2. Last night my husband and I were up talking late. He suddenly confessed to me that he has been hurting my 5 month old daughter. He said it has happened maybe 10 or 11 times over the past five months, and that it was things like pinching, smacking/slapping, etc. Nothing sexual or shaking or anything. He said the last time he did it was a 3 or so weeks ago. He told me he was telling me now because he couldn’t live with himself anymore and was dying because of the guilt and shame. He told me he mostly does it to get a rise out of her because he likes to bring her down from her crying. I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO THINK OR DO. We have been married for almost two years (in the temple). He has never once been violent towards me in any way shape or form. I just feel sick over this. I don’t know what to do, don’t know who to talk to about it. The thought that he could have even laid a finger on my daughter makes me so upset I feel like the room is spinning. I told him he needed to go see the bishop and that we needed to look into counseling for him. I told him I love him and want to forgive but I don’t even know where to start. And I’m not even the victim! I love him so much, but I don’t know how to get over this. Please help me. Do I work towards forgiveness? Am I crazy to try and save this? Or do I end everything? I’m so scared and feel so alone. I don’t know the next step.
  3. Okay, time for a game Wednesday night at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. More information on the website. Since I work on Sunday, the next session won't be until next Tuesday or Wednesday night at the same time. I hope to see you there.
  4. Okay, I'm hoping to have a game Sunday night at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Once again, more information on the website. I added some information on how to get to the game with an Apple product. Unfortunately, I don't know much, but I hope it will help someone get there.
  5. I forgot to post this last night, but another game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles is scheduled for tonight at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. More details on the website. I hope to see you there.
  6. A game didn't happen Tuesday. I hope to have one tonight at the usual time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. More information on the website. For those of you that use Apple electronics, I do not know how to access IRC networks with the Apple store. I suggest to look for IRC clients in the Apple store and pick one that looks good, download it, and try it. The website has more information on accessing it using other methods, and I hope it can help with configuration.
  7. I'm hoping to have a game tonight and/or Thursday at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. For those that are interested in playing, please help spread the word. IRC used to be full of people chatting, but something happened to have no one want to talk there anymore. (This is a good thing, because people aren't spending a lot of time talking online, which is what I did over 20 years ago.) I someday hope that I can get a big enough community of players to stop by, chat, and learn about the gospel in a fun way. Until then, I need help. The website has more information on how to get there: I hope to see you tonight and/or Thursday night. Thank you to all moderators for allowing me to post this. The objective is to find players.
  8. There will be one session this week but in two possible time slots: Tuesday or Wednesday. Both start at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Details about how to get to the game are on the game's website.
  9. Since I have Friday off, I'm hoping to have a game at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Remember that if you're on time, you get a 2,500 point bonus. I'll try increasing the bonus. Further, the web site for the game is on-line.
  10. The next game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles will be at 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Remember that being on time will get a bonus of 1,000 points. At the beginning of the week, I got the game's web site up and running. The site gives a lot of information about how to get to the game, the rules of the game, and logs of game play. Please check it out. Please tell people that you think might be interested in the game.
  11. I have a day off, so I hope to have a game session tonight at 6 PM Eastern, 9 PM Pacific. Once again, it's on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. I hope to see you all there. It's difficult to let people know about the next game if I don't post it. Further, people don't know that a game session happened on Sunday. It wasn't a full game, but a player was there for three rounds. Details about the game are on the Facebook group LDS Trivia and Puzzles and when I get the web site finished and posted.
  12. Okay, it's time to host a game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles Sunday night at the usual time of 6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern. Once again, it's on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. I hope to see many people there. I added a winning streak record. It starts at zero, and when players break it, bonus points are awarded, but MORE points are earned when broken at one time. More details will be on the web site once I get it finished.
  13. . . . I'm still working on the web site, and it's almost done. I keep reading it to make sure it looks good, and I keep thinking of stuff to add. Then I got to find a host. I'll post here when it's finished with a URL.
  14. . . . Doing this game helps me keep up with the gospel. When I script test, I actually play, and I've gotten questions wrong and even confused me on a few. I'm not sure it's a good thing if I can confuse myself with questions. . . . I want to remind everyone there are many ways to get onto an IRC network. I choose to use DALnet, because the script is written for that network, and the network created the features that other IRC networks use, especially registering nicknames. To get onto an IRC network, search for "IRC clients" on Google or your app store. If you need assistance, please ask here. I hope that other people with similar or the same problem can be helped at the same time. I've made some changes since the last game. Some were already implemented, and some were added this week. One, there is a jackpot that accumulates when questions are missed. I updated it to include missed opportunities to earn points. The jackpot is awarded randomly to players that answer questions correctly. The odds get better the longer the jackpot isn't claimed, and higher point value questions get more chances. I'm still thinking of other ways to add to the jackpot. Two, I now added a pause feature after a question is asked. Even when I was playing, I felt there just wasn't enough time to think of an answer for questions, especially when more than one correct is needed. It's even worse with really long questions. I added a formula to add a pause in three second increments based on the question's length in number of words. *Really* short questions will have no pause. Three, I added some stat tracking. Of course, the main point of the game is to answer trivia questions, and everything else, especially the puzzles, are bonus points. The script is now going to track the number of correct answers each player gets. It's also going to track the average point value of questions. This average takes into account two and three answer questions. Finally, it tracks the questions asked and the number of right answers. I decided not to track the amount of time, because I have to manually look for correct answers, and it could get messy, let alone inaccurate. Educated guess questions is a little different where the player gets right answer credit only if a right answer is given. However, it will count for winning streak purposes. I could probably go into more, but this post is long enough. Besides, I still need to get a web site up. I think this will be the ticket to getting more people to the games. Doing a 24 hour trivia game is not possible right now, and it defeats the purpose of having a human.
  15. . . . on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. See you there.
  16. Okay, I forgot that tomorrow is Father's Day, so there won't be a game Sunday evening. However, there may be one on Monday night. I don't know if I'll be home in time for Monday night. I'll post something if there will be a game, but there may not be much warning. After Monday, my next day off is Thursday, so I hope to have a game then.
  17. So, I've been wondering, can I wear a bikini if it is modest and no revealing? This may seem silly, but I am looking for a new swimsuit and have really bad chest acne. The only thing I can find that is high enough to cover it are some high chested bikinis. I have a plan to just wear the top and wear board shorts but I need some other opinions.
  18. . . . It will take place on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. . . . If anyone is interested, let me know or just like this post. (Please only like if there's an intent to actually come play.)
  19. . . . Once again, the game takes place on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. I hope to see you there. Remember, 1,000 points is awarded to anyone there on time. If I'm late, 1,000 points will be awarded to whoever's there when I arrive.
  20. I haven't had an LDS Trivia and Puzzles game for a while because of school. I have one final exam to take tonight, and I will be done with school until the end of September. I know not what my future in regards to jobs is, but I do know that I will continue to work on LDS Trivia. . . . The game will still take place on IRC through DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. I'm pondering some things. One, I'm not sure if I should add another category or two. Right now, I have Bible, Book of Mormon, Church History, New Testament, Old Testament, and Wild. Should I create more categories? Two, I'm going to add time to actually read the questions. I want to give players some time to think about the answer, but I don't want them to just start searching for the answer right away. I need to create a formula that adds time based on the question's length. One important aspect of the game is reading the question, and if players feel they don't have enough time, they may not read the question, and that would effect their answers. Another thing I want to do over the summer is add a website about the game. The site gives information about the game with instructions on how to get to it. I'll post more when it's actually done. Anyway, I hope to see you all there.
  21. . . . Remember that the game is on IRC on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Any questions? Please ask here. I hope to see you there.
  22. Hello All! I've been perusing a few topics here and folks on this forum seem very genuine and polite for the most part which is refreshing. I've been interested in the LDS community for some time and no doubt because I have surrounded myself with LDS members but it truly has seemed coincedental and random. In all regards, the LDS Members I have met, have been very kind, welcoming, and engaging. I am in no way saying perfect but I do think many practicing Mormons will allow go the extra mile to help others. I must admit some of my "best friends" are Mormon. LOL! I must say that I am an individual who loves to help others, feels that there is "something" Higher than us to which we need to contribute...its not just all about the NOW. However, I am currently not an LDS, but more of a general non practicing Catholic. Throughout the last couple of decades, I've been drawn to LDS community. Here in American we are very blessed that we can investigate a new religion to which we may not had born without being killed--AMEN-- but I want to ask folks here: For converts to the Mormon Religion, are converts looked as "tainted" or not "real" LDS. because we were not born into the religion? I read some articles saying that people who are not "real LDS" are never really accepted, is this true? To me, spreading the gospel and the Book of Mormon is exactly what it's all about. Someone who is 30, 40, 50, 60, ..... something and finally accepts Christ and the Book of Mormon is celebrated rather than looked down upon. Am I incorrect? Next month I shall go to The Local LDS Church with new LDS friends, and I'm really looking forward to it, looking forward to learning about Christ, meeting new people, and how I can help others. Thanks for any comments! Kind regards to all! Peace and blessings!
  23. As a life-long Mormon (so far), I've always known that one of the requirements to get into the celestial kingdom is to be a faithful member of the church (LDS, obviously). I have also often heard the question come up (and wondered it myself) whether if someone that's never heard of the church or its teachings would be penalized (not allowed into the highest kingdom) simply because they weren't members, and if that would even be fair. My teachers have always answered that question saying that everyone will have the chance to discover the church throughout their lifetime and whether they decide to explore it would be their choice, therefore making it fair for everyone. However, there are many countries on the Earth that do not give citizens the freedom of religion. For example, the majority of people in China are unaffiliated with a religion and general Christianity only accounts for about 5% of the population. China only has 5 registered religious organizations, which are the Buddhist Association of China, Chinese Taoist Association, Islamic Association of China, Three-Self Patriotic Movement and Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association. Any religious groups outside of this can be subject to anything from harassment, forced conversion, imprisonment, and torture. These horrible consequences have happened many times before. Now, for my question. In the scriptures, it has stated several times that it is very important to follow the laws of your country. So, say someone from China or anywhere with similar laws had discovered the church and had maybe even gotten to the point where they were praying and reading the Book of Mormon, etc. If they were to continue practicing Mormonism, would that be considered a sin if it is illegal in their country? And if so, how would they be able to enter the celestial kingdom without having to leave the country? Please, only leave relevant answers! I have been wondering this for a while and I would like to see what other people think.
  24. . . . As always, the game takes place over IRC on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Please ask questions here if there are any. . . .
  25. . . . I've done lots of testing on the script, and I think I got most of the bugs out. There's a jackpot that increases with each question not correctly answered. Answer questions correctly for a chance to win it. There's a bonus for getting three or more in a row correct. Possible bonus for breaking a winning streak. Letter guesses for the first person to correctly answer the question. Points for guessing letters and solving those puzzles. Possible bonuses for correct spelling. Bonus for showing up to the game on time. Database of questions now programmed to randomize questions. Bonus points given for all correct answers given on questions requiring two or three answers. Exact match on answers NOT required. Correct spelling NOT required. Bonus round for the high scorer when game ends. That's all the features I want to highlight here. I hope to see you then.
