  1. Hello. My name is Anna. I'm 17 years old, and I'm a Mormon. So, there's this guy who I have had a crush on for some time and he is currently set to go on a mission in July. (Whenever a guy turns 18 (it used to be 19, but the rules have changed since then), they are given the option to submit their missionary application to Salt Lake City where the three people who are the head of the church and SEVeral other people prayerfully decide where this person is to go to in the world. They can go anywhere except for a few places in the world, and they devote 2 years of their life to preaching and teaching the Gospel.) I've been doing my best not to push him into anything that would prevent him from going on his mission, but he and I have been getting along well. I always catch him smiling and glancing at me whenever I'm around him. ♥️ I'm also planning on writing to him while he's on his mission. Yesterday, I ran into my crush at church. He and I used to be in the same ward, but after the ward boundary changes, he and I are in different wards, but I've been able to see him through the different church activities. This past year at seminary though, he would always sit next to me, and I really liked sitting next to him. I took him to my school's semi-formal for our first date, and he has 3 jobs now, so he can't set up another date with me. He got me a rose after the semi-formal too as a way to thank me for taking him to the dance. He and I also text from time to time, but our conversations are fairly short. He's a bit of a shy guy too. So anyways, last night I had this weird dream. And I know dreams are pretty boring to talk about, but I feel like this was a sign of some kind. I dreamt that my crush had gotten home from his mission, and he randomly shows up. There wasn't a big "Welcome Home!" party or anything. He just came to me. He gives me this long, close hug for what felt like 5 minutes, and it didn't feel awkward at all. It felt like a real hug too, like he was actually there hugging me. He and I talked for a while, and then he had to go do something, but he accidentally left his wallet there. His wallet was made of brown leather, and it was the size of an open pocket wallet (like the kind that you have to fold open so maybe 5 or 6 inches long). I opened it up to see whose wallet it was, and on the inside of the flap, I saw a small beige heart cut out of the wallet, and my first name was written in the small beige heart. I opened the wallet up a little more to try and find some ID or something like that, and I found my crush's full name engraved into the wallet. The last thing I remember doing was sending a picture of the wallet, and asking him if it was his, and then I woke up after that. Once I got home today from running errands, I started to crave my crush's hug, but I couldn't call him up and get a hug because as of right now, my crush is in Utah with his family, and he won't be back until roughly 2 weeks before he leaves for his mission. (Plus that would feel awkward to meet up with someone just for a hug). I'm not craving a 5 minute hug from him as mentioned in the dream either. Just a 10 or 15 second hug from him, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it without seeming awkward. And I know this is an awkward question and all, but what does this dream mean?
  2. I couldn't stop smiling when I saw this. I'm proud of Brandon! People made assumptions that he was ex-Mormon and that bothered him. It's wonderful to see him as a dad.
  3. A baptist pastor, Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, said today to MSNBC: Now I for one am a bit sick and tired of telling people "We're Christian too" but it isn't getting through and it isn't working. And I know that in the end it doesn't matter that much but I have to keep talking to evangelical friends I have. Wouldn't we be under the general Christianity umbrella but on our own in there? separate from Protestants, Catholics and Orthodox, as a new form of Christianity? Can people here explain to me why it is that other Christians are so uptight and don't see us as Christians? I now we reject many of traditional Christianity's claims, like the Trinity view and saved by grace only and not works but how do they define Christianity to be able to claim that we aren't Christians too? I'm more interested in what they, other christians, say about what a christian is to be able to then conclude that mormons aren't Christians because I know what we say about the issue obviously. I have a few friends who are evangelical christians, born again pentacostal type, so any explanation and argument will come in handy during my discussions with them. By the way they told me we aren't christians because we make God to be a man with special powers and not the all powerful God, if that makes some sense.
  4. I titled this question that way partly to get attention but partly because I really want to get my fellow Saint's opinions on this issue. I know our Prophets used to speak openly about the dangers and evils of Socialism at one time (particularly President Benson when he was the Secy. of Agriculture and President McKay when Soviet Communism was at it's peak) but it seems that now we are a worldwide church we have gone pretty quiet on the issue. Here's what I am getting at. I went to the Salt Lake Tea Party on April 15 and I was a bit surprised to find that as an active Latter Day Saint, I was in the minority. Most of the people I talked to at the event and since were not LDS. So, I got curious and started asking around and I have been surprised to find that most of the members of my ward that I asked (in Salt Lake County) have no compelling concern about the current direction America is heading and several said they actually agree with the government take over of the banks, health care, the auto industry, etc. because "corporate greed has gotten so bad." I also get a very common response from many LDS family and friends that they have given up entirely, there is no hope for America and that they are just waiting for end to come. None of these LDS Americans have any interest in protesting or even calling public officials or participating in the political process at all other than to vote. Needless to say, I am troubled. I want to know how prevalent these ambivalent views on socialism are among other LDS people. Any comments?
  5. Hello to everyone, I am glad that I found this site so now I can stay in touch with LDS members and non-members who have a desire and will to do good. Tomarrow I go back to work and work all weekend long. I work in Law Enforcement and enjoy it. I hope that I can keep a positive attitude about my job and always treat people with love while enforcing the law. I never want to become a bagde heavy person. I started a religious blog on blogspot about 1 month ago. It is mormonelder.blogspot.com I enjoy teaching others about The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints. I also enjoy clearing up false ideas and misconceptions about the Church. Today has been a great day. I spent all day watching my little boy while my wife slept. We had fun playing. I am grateful to be a member of the Church. I love my Heavenly Father so much. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. They have both been so good to me despite the things that I do and say that wrong. 7 years ago I left on my mission and I still think about all the great experiences that I had to this day. I love my wife and my little boy and enjoy spending all my free time with them. I know that Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ live. I know that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God. I know the Book of Mormon to be true and that it testifies along with the Bible that Jesus is the Christ. I leave this with you wishing everyone well. Take care, Chad
  6. It's difficult to measure the harvest from the intensive cyber missionary service that is now happening all over the World Wide Web, but here's an indication. The following message was posted today on the LDS Cyber Missionaries forum http://www.LDS1.org: “I have been over on Facebook- group “All Christians On Face book” usually posting under a thread started by Jeff Stevens (i think I have his name spelled right?)– and it is interestingly enough titled “Ask a Mormon”! There have been a LOT of “hecklers” who post reams of anti stuff- but the administrators do a pretty good job of banning those who get personal or dirty in their language. — bless them! I have just recently had several posters say that from my work there, they have decided to look into the church, and one said they would read the BofM! Just yesterday a Jehovahs’ Witness has suggested that from my respectful posting there, that he would like to learn more of our doctrines! WOWIE ZOWIE! Made my day! So we are just inching into that. I wish I had MORE time! I wish I didn’t need to eat or sleep or shower or clean my house etc! (boy would my husband be upset!– but I AM blessed as he totally approves of my posting- but does worry if I let the dishes go unwashed for more than 2 days — yea– I worry about that too! ;/ and I work to NOT let that happen! May God bless us all in our work for Him and guide us in how we post!” GramaJane

  8. I think many Latter-day Saints believe that we are getting close to a time when there will be a separation of the righteous from the wicked, the wheat from the tares. That separation may mark the division between those whose life choices have prepared them to endure a Terrestrial (Millennial) glory, and those who have chosen Telestial and will have their physical bodies destroyed by the glory of our Savior's perhaps imminent "Second Coming." "And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left." Matthew 25: 32-33 Matthew 25 There are many more scriptural references to nations, kindreds, tongues, and people: Word Search: nations kindreds tongues people As Latter-day Saints, we are commissioned to help lift God's children from a Terrestrial state to a Celestial state by adding to the truths found in all other churches. We perform authorized priesthood ordinances, and in holy temples apply the apostolic sealing power to bless God's children eternally. That is why LDS missionaries lovingly work even among righteous fellow followers of Jesus Christ, to add to what they already have. But that work is in preparation for a time beyond the Millennium when this world will leap from a Terrestrial to a Celestial glory. God sows His seeds early... In addition to that exclusive Celestial work, I believe that Latter-day Saints are also commissioned to help lift people from Telestial wickedness to Terrestrial righteousness. That task I think we share with god-fearing people of all religious denominations. And that task is the one most urgently needed to be carried forth in these days when it may soon be too late for the wicked to repent and qualify for life during the Millennium. The common sexual sins of our time will almost certainly place unrepentent fornicators and adulterers on God's left hand, they may not survive into the Millennium, they must be warned. Also, the Gospel still needs to be carried to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. It is my thinking that much of the work of helping lift people from Telestial to Terrestrial (wickedness to righteousness) including perhaps preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations can be carried out today by Cyber Missionaries of all denominations, not just by the Saints whose focus is on priesthood ordinances and FULNESS. Am I wrong in this? What do you think? God is no respecter of persons, Latter-day Saints may have many more helpers than we sometimes think we have. Perhaps in these tempestuous last days of preparation for the leap from Telestial to Terrestrial we have more COMMON GROUND with other Christians and god-fearing people everywhere than we tend to think we have! "That these plates of brass should go forth unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people who were of his seed." 1 Nephi 5:18 1 Nephi 5 The above reference is to the brass Plates of Laban, the commandments of the Lord to the descendents of Joseph. This could refer to parts of the Bible and possibly the Torah - which of course could be taught to other nations, kindreds, tongues, and people by god-fearing people who are not necessarily Latter-day Saints. Do you think we are nearing a separation of the righteous from the wicked, the wheat from the tares? Do you think that many god-fearing people everywhere are as capable as Latter-day Saints of helping lift God's children on earth from Telestial to Terrestrial so they can survive the end times and live on into the Millennium or qualify for the first resurrection? How can we best get the common ground message out to Christians of other denominations and effectively join with them as Cyber Missionaries in the task of crying repentance, and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation? (Granted, baptism by proper authority is essential to continue on the road to Celestial glory, but perhaps only righteous living is required to escape the fire to come??) Comments anyone?
