  1. Greetings! Investigator here..
  2. According to the Deseretnews, Sen. Hatch is retiring. I know not everyone here is from Utah, but this is kinda big news even for Latter-day Saints not in Utah since Hatch is easily the most powerful member of the church in government here in the United States. As the senate pro tem, he is also the most powerful senator in the US. For me, I like him very much, but I am glad he is stepping aside. I hope Romney runs for his seat. We need another voice that will counter Trump's more stupid annunciations in the senate.
  3. Hello, My husband and I are visiting Utah this November to meet his brother who's serving in Salt Lake East when he gets released. Also, this is the same week as our 1st anniversary. We want to visit at least 3 temples, but since there is so many near the Salt Lake area, which ones would you recommend? I know every temple is beautiful, but we wanted to experience the temple in different ways and they are all unique. Also, understand the culture/ history along side the blessings of the temple. We would visit all 17 if we could, but since we can't do that in a week, which temples near the Salt Lake would you recommend us visit for a first time in Utah trip? (yep it really is my first time in UT ) Thanks!
  4. Hi, Here's the rundown on my situation... I am a new convert (about 6 months). I really enjoyed the first bishop I had, but after I got baptized he was released. The new bishop and I don't see eye to eye. I feel that he puts me down in our meetings. I know that they talk about me in bishopric meetings because a close friend is the secretary (which is fine) but he doesn't seem to remember my name. Our ward is pretty small for Utah, only 15 people. I think I am probably being a baby, but these things bother me because I feel that I am not good enough to receive his attention nor for him to make time to talk to me. Normally, I would just let this go and toughen up. But I got engaged in April and am waiting so that I can go through the temple in March. I know that these next six months are going to be hard (the law of chastity is a hard one for me). I want someone who will hold me more accountable and will be by my side more than this bishop. I live in Utah where there are MANY YSA wards. Would it be bad to switch to a different ward until March so that I can set myself up for success (I know it's on my shoulders, but I'd like the support of a bishop)? If so, what is the reason I give the church for me switching wards since my address hasn't changed? Thank you!
  5. Hi my name is Kevin and i am new here to lds.net. I have lurked around for a bit but finally decided to create a profile. Let's see what to say about myself... My family joined the Church in California when I was 7 years old. So I have been a member most of my life. We moved to Utah when I was 11 and have lived here since then. I am the oldest of 5 kids in my family. I was homeschooled a good part of my life. I am by nature very philosophical and always trying to learn new things. I have researched and looked into all the major religions and philosophies in the world. I try to be very open and accepting of people from all walks of life. I served a mission in the Canada Halifax Mission, which is Eastern Canada, which covers the provinces of New Brunkswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, and Aroostook County in Maine. I am really big into health and the Word of Wisdom. I am a vegetarian and have been for 4 years now, and have been a strict vegetarian (no dairy or eggs) since Nov '10. I also have been doing a lot of studying into consecration and the United Order. I have a girlfriend and I hope to get married sometime later this year. I think that covers the basics, if anyone has any questions or wishes for me to eloborate of anything just let me know.
