  1. I have several new pieces of FREE sheet music on my website. These are arrangements of "Still, Still, Still / Oh, Hush Thee, My Baby." The piano arrangement is not made to be sung to as it is quite a bit different from the other arrangements. The arrangement for vocal duet could actually be a solo or choir piece as well. These are currently FREE! Please pass the word. https://holversonmusic.com/still-still-still-oh-hush-thee-my-baby-medley Merry Christmas, Clip preview - Still, Still, Still medley for Piano and Flute.pdf preview - Still, Still, Still medley Piano solo.pdf preview - Still, Still, Still medley Vocal Duet.pdf
  2. I made an arrangement of "Away in a Manger / Oh, Hush Thee, My Baby" and we recorded it yesterday. Two people from my ward provided vocal talents: Cathie Fisher and Olivia Arana. Olivia truly has the voice of an angel. Her part is later in the song, so be sure to listen to the entire thing. I think it would be really cool to do a video of this with Claire Crosby and her parents singing. They are expecting a new baby any day and they could probably get all 3 of their cute kids in the video. I don't know them, but somebody out there does. The version we recorded yesterday is here on Youtube. You can also find mp3 and PDF downloads on www.HolversonMusic.com. Music to me is a very powerful thing and should be used for good. I hope you enjoy the message of these songs in this arrangement. We sing about Easter (Christ's death and resurrection) every week. Surely we can sing about his birth (Christmas) more often. 3. I'm new to this website. I arrange music for fun and thought I'd share my latest piece. It's an arrangement of "Still, Still, Still" and "Oh, Hush Thee, My Baby". I've created 2 different PDF files. One is geared towards a piano and flute/violin duet. The other is geared toward a choir or duet with piano accompaniment. These really could be used several ways. I hope you enjoy them and share them. I've put uploaded them here and they are also free on my website: HolversonMusic.com Anybody else out here into music? 4. Hi guys! So my brother is returning from his mission to South America in a few weeks and I was wondering what I could get him that would be meaningful. I don’t want to ask him during emailing time because he will just say “anything is fine”. I was thinking doing something home-made and something around $15 dollars. Any suggestions?
  5. Seeking advice on how to handle a tricky situation-- My MIL is... she fearfully freaks out whenever the LDS church/faith/beliefs are mentioned. She's an Evangelical who's been fed anti-Mormon half-truths her entire life. She's unwilling to talk about it or address her fears, and honestly believes I am Hell-bound, and leading my daughter and her son down that path. As she refuses to talk about it (I've tried), the working solution has been to Not Talk About It when she's around. I think this is silly, and she'll have to face it eventually, but this is her choice. Normally for Christmas we visit her state and go to church with her, with me catching my LDS ward's Christmas celebration the Sunday before, so MIL can ignore the issue. This Christmas things are different: we are hosting Christmas at our house, and Christmas is on a Sunday so I will be going to my ward. To be blunt: I refuse to ditch church on Christmas simply because of MIL's phobia. I'm going and so is my daughter and husband. I know my MIL: she'll refuse to go-- which is fine with me, but she'll put on a big show of boycotting it with great disapproval, and be I-Don't-Want-To-Talk-About-It fuming angry the entire week visit. Any advice???? Part of me wants to talk her into visiting for Thanksgiving instead and inviting the atheist in-laws over for Christmas instead (they're actually really supportive of all of us going to church).

  7. In my Christmas message at the jail I will highlight how Christ humbled himself out of love for us. I suggest that in many ways Jesus' incarnation was similar to the experience of prison. Does it make sense to say that God the Son can be humble? See what you think: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/through-christmas-god-became-humble-tommy-ellis?published=t
  8. So, what do you say? Was Santa Claus a Republican or Democrat? http://www.christianpost.com/news/is-santa-a-republican-or-democrat-heres-what-prominent-politicial-minds-in-washington-think-131649/ Perhaps the funniest response from the article was that Santa was obviously a Republican, because with him, "If you like your gift, you can keep your gift."

  10. A friend of my father is an immigrant from egypt and has invited me to a coptic orthodox christmas service. (They celebrate christmas on January 6th) I am very fascinated an interested and will be going tomorrow. They have strict rules like women must wear a veil, everyone must not wear their shoes in the church, and the men must stand on the right while the women stand on the left. I just want to go to experience a different culture of things and to experience this. Lots of incense will be used and I think a lot of Arabic will be spoken. The service will be 3-4 hours! I have no interest in joining this church, but thought it was kind my fathers friend invited me. This should be an interesting experience!
  11. I signed up for this site a while ago and it told me that I have not posted anything on the forum. So I thought I'd going do it anyways. I am a deaf twenty-nine years old woman. I'm the youngest of five in the family. I was born and raise in the LDS family. I was fairly active for the most part of my life. Now, I am on and off in the past three or four years. I am currently disfellowship since 2008. I know it wasn't suppose to be long. I was told to return to the bishop when I feel ready to gain my membership back. Apparently I am still not ready. I do not want to leave the church, yet at the same time, I feel I am not truly living the gospel. So things are becoming complicated for me. Anyhow, Merry Christmas Everyone! HUGS.
  12. This year I'm keeping Christmas simple. Every gift wrapped is going to be practical and in a reasonable price range. After much over thinking of gift ideas, I had a eureka moment, and decided that everyone in the family are getting a pair of slippers! Yes, that's right, everyone! Grandpas, grandmas, siblings, and husband -- are all gonna be sportin' slippers Now, I still plan on being creative and getting sleepers that reflect everyone's unique personality. And I'll of course be putting more thought into some of the other gifts DH will get. But tis the season to wear slippers! So these are what I'll be getting one of the grandmas.. Minnetonka Cally (indoor/outdoor) slippers for $36.95 on Zappos. So, for those over thinking gift ideas -- keep it simple! Slippers are practical, come in all styles (for varying ages and personalities) and sizes, and are generally affordable :) Hope this helps.
  13. Here's 60 Christmas music videos that I've made. The music comes from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Duplicates will have for example, a version that shows the Nativity from the very start, one that includes a section with three wise men, and a version that starts at the stable or looking for an inn. Out of all of them, this one's my favorite.
