  1. Father, spare this land for the sake of the Righteous. Grant church and government leadership the wisdom of Solomon and Joseph. Use Caesar to prosper and protect your church. Use your church to prosper and protect this land. Finally, LORD, draw your people with hope--to humble ourselves, repent of our sins, and pray that you would heal the land. I ask these things in Jesus' matchless name. Amen.

    2 Nephi 10: 11 - 12

(Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 10:11) 11 And this land shall be a land of liberty unto the Gentiles, and there shall be no kings upon the land, who shall raise up unto the Gentiles. 12 And I will fortify this land against all other nations. I’m having trouble understanding these two verses. I think that French, English, and Spanish kings have reigned over parts of the land that Nephi is referring to here, and maybe even Portuguese kings, for more than two centuries in some places. And every time there has been a war between two nations on the North and South American continents, eg, Mexico v US, or the 1812 American/Canadian war, one nation has won, and another has lost, thereby suggesting that the nation which lost was unfortified against the attacking nation. So what does Nephi mean when he says there will be no kings upon the land, and that it will be fortified against other nations?

    Volunteer Abroad

I am looking to take my family to volunteer abroad, but I can't seem to find a good service to go through. There seem to be allot of them, and i am surprised at how much it costs to volunteer abroad. I also wonder how legit many of them are. I also wonder if I even need to go through a volunteer service at all. Maybe we could just volunteer at an organization. Does anyone here have a recommendation? We would prefer to go to south America. I served in Peru, and I have take my wife and daughter back there once. We would love to go again and to do some service this time.

    Hi, from LDS Conservative

I've been registered on this site since Dec-2008. I've mostly just browsed through some of the discussions, haven't posted until now. I live in Utah, active in the Church. Served a mission in Haiti (2001-2002). I love the gospel. I love studying doctrine. Along with the many great truths within our scriptures, I am grateful for the many teachings of the Lord's prophets that allowed me to understand what the scriptures mean in Ether 8: 18-26 (and specifically the commandment to "awake to a sense of your awful situation"). After learning these things I was inspired to create a website, LatterdayConservative.com: Home*-*LDS Prophets, America, Freedom, Liberty, Constitution, Mormon Politics to provide a resource for people to learn what the Prophets and Apostles have said about America, Freedom and the Constitution, in accordance with Ezra Taft Benson's counsel: "Second, We must learn the principles of the Constitution in the tradition of the Founding Fathers. Have we read the Federalist papers? Are we reading the Constitution and pondering it? Are we aware of its principles? Are we abiding by these principles and teaching them to others? Could we defend the Constitution? Can we recognize when a law is constitutionally unsound? Do we know what the prophets have said about the Constitution and the threats to it? . . .
