  1. We recently (about 5 months ago) had a complete change in our elders quorum presidency. The prior president was awesome! He was inspiring, very genuine, taught awesome lessons, and genuinely cared for us. His counselors were equally as awesome. The new presidency is anything BUT inspiring. They are for the most part ambivalent, they do not seem to create any type of motivation, and they definitely do not give the impression of supporting anyone in the quorum. I find myself skipping elders quorum because I feel I am not getting anything from it. The lessons are dry, the president appears to lack in actually giving the impression of caring about us. I had an incident that required the EQ president's help and sent an e-mail outlining what I needed...he ignored it and within 20 minutes sent an e-mail to the EQ asking us to move chairs. So I know he understands how to use e-mail. Anyway-I feel bad for skipping EQ weekly-but honestly I gave it a shot and felt like I was being held hostage for an hour. Does anyone else have this issue-have they had this issue and how can I best deal with it. In my heart-I know that likely the problem is me...but I could really use some input.
  2. So... here is my story. I hope to get your feedback... Im a relatively new convert and fairly new Elders Quorum President. The quorum has a history of inactivity ( 50-60 % inactivity ) and not much in the way of organization by previous elders quorum presidents. Home Teaching is in the single digits. Service is nearly non-existent. Finding someone to accept an invitation to serve others is very hard. To say we have challenges in finding motivated individuals is an understatement. I struggled to fill my Presidency for many months. I have this crazy idea that what this quorum needs is leadership, focused efforts and lots of Gospel influence. As much as I believe the Lord does not call the qualified... he qualifies the called... I still feel the need to get feedback from others on my Elders Quorum Presidency Agenda form PRIOR to introducing it to my Presidency. If you would review my Elders Quorum Presidency meeting agenda I would appreciate it. I plan on using my keys to implement this agenda, slowly but steadily, in an effort to benefit the all the brethren. Thank you for your time and effort should you choose to leave me some feedback.. 3. So, this Christmas I plan to get a nice tie clip for one of the missionaries in my ward, to thank him for helping me out so much. The tie clip is small, silver, and is basically engraved "Elder Winston" (Winston as an example of a last name). My concern is, will he be allowed to wear that during his mission? I think missionaries aren't allowed to wear tie clips with characters on them? Also, what about once he goes home from his mission, could he wear that tie clip to church?? I mean the tie clip does say "Elder" Winston on it and he wouldn't really be an "Elder"/missionary at that point? I know I sound pretty paranoid, but it's just because I assume since missionaries hand in their black name tags at the end of their mission, the title "Elder" is somewhat sacred and only a full time missionary can have this title.
