  1. I have never understood fasting. I know we do it because 1: we are commanded to. 2: fast offering to further charity work 3:.... just those two things actually. I was studying this weeks Come Follow Me lesson and was reading Matthew 4 where Christ spending 40 days and nights fasting in the wilderness and it occurred to me that even though I do fast and know the basic temporal reasons why, I have no testimony of it. I realize fasting with prayer provides a very real strength and power to the spirit and body giving one the spiritual sensitivity and physical strength to do works which could not be done otherwise as well as increased miracles provided through faithful prayer. But what I don’t understand and the reason I may lack testimony is what it is about faithful fasting and prayer that allows those things to happen. I know we don’t need the reasoning behind everything and need to ACT in faith, which I do. I guess I just don’t get it. As I research and pray about it, any insight from y’all would be helpful. Thanks!
  2. Hello, I am a new member and I Had a question about fasting. I am 29 year old boy and also I am healthy but I had many kidney stones in past. My doctor told me to drink at least several glasses of water each day. I really want to fast but I am afraid it can cause problems for me. Do you think is it possible that I fast without eating but I drink at least a half glass of water in middle of my fasting ? I am sure my doctor does not know the answer, becuase he is not familiar with church.

    Fasting

Can you drink water while fasting? In true tho the faith, it says: To fast is to go without food and drink voluntarily. So i'm just curious...
  4. How often do you suppose it's healthy to fast? Not as a long-term eating plan, but during a time when you really need to call on the powers of Heaven to come to your aid. Every other day? Three times a week?
  5. Hello everyone, I have come to the forums many times and I have found knowledge and encourement. Now I come here for help and some guidence... I haven't gone to church for at least 6 months or so and I have felt o.k about it, but for family matters I fasted yesterday not the 24 hrs but 23.3 so today I want to fast again. My 15th year old nephew dissapear 11 days ago and we don't know anything about him so I fasted so we may know where to look or what to do, while fasting I felt closer to HF and good about it also with the desire to have faith and hope in my heart. Now I feel the desire to fast again even though my body may not feel great. If I fast and don't pay offerings is just about going hungry??, I have been told so. Is just that I dont go to church anymore. So means that if I dont go to church HF doesn't listen my prayers or see my sacrifice at all? I feel so desperate my nephew is missing and I want do everything in my power so he can have the blessing he may need now, Please any advice and prayers will be welcome.
  6. Seriously though, what is your testimony of fasting? How has fasting helped you?
