The link below describes a liberal professor who tweeted that Trump must hang. He claims the quote was out of context, and that it should be protected academic speech. In a vacuum, I find his excuses questionable and his content despicable. However, if this were say 2007, I'd agree with him that his speech should be protected. Alas, too many conservative academics, actors, sports & newscasters, etc. have seen the wrath of PC intolerance for free thought and speech, so I'm inclined to say the professor must go. I am sad though. I wish we could just all agree to reinstate the First Amendment. http://politico.com/magazine/story/2017/09/24/cal-state-lecturer-tweets-trump-must-hang-215620

The University of Chicago's Dean sent a letter to incoming freshman -- a trigger warning of sorts. He told them that the school does not support "trigger warnings," or "safe spaces." They should expect rigorous debate, free expressions of ideas, and to be stretched by uncomfortable ideas. Further, they should not expect that the school will disinvite controversial speakers. 30 years ago it was liberals who defended freedom of speech and expression. Today it is conservatives. Many liberals and progressives denounced the "Chicago letter" as hostile, aggressive, and targeting of minorities, LGBT communities, and of student activism in general. Further, they claimed that the dean did not understand what "safe places" and "trigger warnings" really were. In an interesting commentary, The Atlantic points out that it is often religious students (especially Christians), and those who are atheists/agnostics that get silenced by the culture of sensitivity and inclusion. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/08/silencing-religious-students-on-campus/497951/ BTW, another Atlantic article suggested that the PC campus culture actually trains students to think pathologically, according to Cognitive Behavior Therapists. It leads them to depression and anxiety, because they are learning that they are fragile, and that opposing viewpoints are inherently antagonistic and threatening to them.. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/09/the-coddling-of-the-american-mind/399356/
