Several years ago as a ward clerk I attended a stake priesthood leadership meeting at which the stake president announced a goal of splitting the stake. The stake was eventually split but not that year. The challenge was to have enough active MP to make it possible functionally. I never doubted in my heart when he announced it that it was doable - but as I mentioned the target date was missed although it did eventually happen.I should also mention I live in that great void in the south represented by > 01.% church membership. At that time and up to this date I have personally felt that if a stake could split so could/should my ward. Basically the membership number in the ward has remained stagnant. Most new converts have melted away within a year or two, and its been new move in's that have kept the membership rate steady. I realize this not much detail to go on but any ideas?

SweepTheEarth.org - Member Missionary Work Community

Hi, I hope it is appropriate to mention my new non-profit organization here - Sweep The Earth. The mission of Sweep The Earth is to help members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to fulfill the promise of the Lord to the ancient prophet Enoch regarding our present day: And righteousness will I send down out of heaven; and truth will I send forth out of the earth, to bear testimony of mine Only Begotten … and righteousness and truth will I cause to sweep the earth as with a flood, to gather out mine elect from the four quarters of the earth … – Moses 7:62 We strive to aid in the fulfillment of this divine promise by helping enthusiastic Church members to: 1. Learn about missionary work (D&C 11:21); 2. Share ideas arising from doctrinal study, thoughtful consideration and prayer; 3. Take actions that spread the knowledge of a Savior (Mosiah 3:20) and of the Restoration of the Gospel (2 Ne. 3:12); and 4. Share experiences that they have while taking part in the activities of this community. Our vision is that through our work, LDS Church members will be able to do better, more creative, more effective missionary work by obtaining the word (D&C 11:21), teaching one another good tactics and strategies, sharing creative ideas, and working together with the Lord of the vineyard (Jacob 5:72-73). We hope that Church members will feel great joy as they use our resources to become better at sharing the Gospel with their families, friends and communities. While we focus on serving Church members, we warmly invite anyone who is not a member of the Church to visit our website, take part in discussions and work with us to defend and promote wholesome values on the Web and around the world. We are not an official Church organization, but we support the mission and teachings of the Church in every way. In contrast to the marvelous More Good Foundation, which has always placed special emphasis on the Internet as a missionary tool and seeks to use the Web to inform Church members as well as those who are not, Sweep The Earth gives equal attention to offline and online means of sharing the Gospel, and we have only one target audience - Church members with a passion for missionary work. I invite you to sign up for free at SweepTheEarth.org and participate actively in our member missionary community!-
