Is There Ever A Time...

Hi there!

Is there ever a time when you felt that it was necessary and justified to "lie?"

You know... maybe just a small white lie, like holding back on the truth... not really making the statement but not correcting it either.

Sometimes, this is called the "sin of omission"... any guilt parties here?

Sure you bet. After 46 years I can think of a ton.

I say things like “Wow that dress is you”

“Now that’s a Baby”!

There are more times that in order to get a point across I do a sales pitch that has them shacking their heads yes before I spring it on them. But that is sales.

I have a three-part job; I am a move coordinator for the army, settling families in to their new base. Then I am in charge of special events on base and I do corporate fun rising for the military family recourse center, (MFRC) now that takes a lot of wrangling.

You try to get the community council and the base and the MFRC to agree on large projects. The MFRC is no profit out side the budget the military gives us.

If we want BIG we have to raise it!

I have to say white lies come out of my mouth more times then I would like but I have never lied to hurt someone EVER! So I think that offsets the other.

After all you cant tell a officer’s wife she screwed up when the movers left her high and dry, signing all the forms with out LOOKING FIRST!

After all they are perfect they never so much as pass gas.

I see these people at their worst, I’m first on the seen when things don’t go right, I hear it all. Including “I cant tell my husband the box with the bathroom cabinet is missing his Viagra is in there”!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Oh Winnie...why NOT? I am just sitting here laughing at your post.....it was priceless.... I am normally a very easy person to get along with....but I remember being an "enlisted" man's wife....and being treated like I was worth nothing. I know that I took the opportunities to speak "down" to a (officer's wife), once in awhile (when they deserved it) Hey....turn about is fair game sometimes :)

And you do have your hands full with all the organizing and arranging you have to do.....all I can say is.....better you than me!

The only thing that bothers me lately is a friend from our old base was here yesterday looking at a few houses to buy and he came in to my work and said “Winnie you look tired” and then went over to my house and told my husband how tired I look. Then my husband said to me later on after I asked him “I look tired at the end of every day”.

This base closer and move is halfway done and I’m dogging moving truck no matters were I drive. And at the same time I have free BBQ’s for the whole base every two weeks and as the base grows so do the BBQ’s.

I have however asked and received donations for all the food drinks and door prizes as well as three BBQ’s to give away at the Pioneer days the first week in September. One is a 474.00 dollar natural gas BBQ given to me by a lumber supply place after I asked if he would like to come to a fence clinic I was putting together so military members wishing to fence their yards will know how to do then to the housing standers. That’s once this month and once next month. Plus I have a pioneer town to build in the parking lot by the 12th of September. (Winnie is shacking her head to see if it rattles)

My boss told me I would be receiving an award from the 2PPCLI battalion for my work with the move. That made my day the army dose not do that often.

Thank good ness I am taking my holdays (vacation) in October so I only have a family dance for Halloween held on the 30th since 31 is a Sunday. I changed that policy after one coworker said we have to make sure all events on Sunday don’t start till mass is out at the base chapel, Ok I said then you’ll all have to wait till I drive back from town at 1:30 because that’s when I get out of church. Sundays are now countered family day, no longer event day.

By the way I am coming to salt lake for conference any one want to meet up, Ill even buy Bat a beer if any one hears from him.

Make sure that you make a thread with this note a couple of weeks before conference Winnie....so that posters don't forget...

I'm sure that Bat will find out about the beer offer :)

Hi there!

Well, I was looking for responses in relation to theology... rather than reference to viagra and passing gas.

Howdy there!

Unfortunately, I think she's speaking to one person specifically, on the sly.  ;)

I find it's best to come right out and ask what you want to know - to the person you want to know it from (Snow).

Gee... I didn't want to point the finger... but I just want to know if you support LDS's who live a lie simply because they are your fellow "saints"????

So.... is it okay to live a lie or not? Is a "lie" ever justified?

Oh, it's okay.... I keep asking him if he is a mormon or not, and he keeps avoiding the question... and I keep telling him that he is living a lie and he tells me to stop calling him a liar..

There... I think that settles it... Snow is publicly denouncing membership in the CoJCoLDS's by his insistence that I not call him a liar when I ask him if he is a mormon. and I've agreed to stop telling him that he is living a lie...

I won't call him a liar anymore... but a convert to mainstream Christianity.

Do all the moderators on this site lie when they go to other forums?

just curious...

It hard to imagine how anyone could be opposed to passing gas (What are the alternatives? Holding it in till you explode, my good friend Krakatoa?) or viagra, but there's no accounting for taste.

So you meant in relation to theology. Oh, then here's your answer.

1 Kg.22:23

"Now, therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee."

2 Chr.18:22

"Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets."

Jer.20:7

"O Lord, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived."

Ezek.14:9

"And if a prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet."

2 Th.2:11

"For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie."

How can he be a liar if he doesn't answer your question? I know that by addressing it as a mute question.....and him not answering it..... will open up some speculation on your part. But don't let it get to you..... it's a MESSAGE BOARD!

Helloooo! ;)

He's not my 'fellow saint' since I'm no longer a member of the church.

I just think if you want to ask a specific person a question, ask them. Don't pose it to the whole group, hoping that he may answer as well.

All I'm asking is that people be upfront with one another.

What is CF?

It is a discussion forum called ChristianForums. But if you are anything outside of their tightly drawn description of a Christian, then, in their eyes, you aren't one. Not a real Christian place to be. LDS, Jehovah's Witnesses, anyone outside of the norm, can't post on most of the discussion board, they are relegated to a lower board.

Never been there myself...but it sounds like in the end....they will be the ones regulated to a lower "something else" for their treatment of others. ;)

If you don't believe in anybody's god, they won't let you post there at all. I'm sure that's what Jesus would want them to do.

Yes, not like this perfect little board where diverse views and opinions are so readily welcomed.

Well, at least we don't accuse people of not being Christian just because they don't fit into the tight little box we have created. B)

Yes again, you don't bother with such clumsy accusations. You just send in the secret police and have the offending member silently extinguished.

Jenda,

Read the posting... "imply" would be the word you used.... re-read the posting and read it in the literal sense without putting thoughts and emotions into the picture.

I asked this question...

Do all the moderators on this site lie when they go to other forums?

just curious...

I didn't specify any particular forum or any particular moderator.... if you conscience is guilty ... well, don't put words in my mouth...

okay?

Snow...

None of the passages you quoted applied to Christians....

There are no examples in the Bible where God tells a believer to "lie" ... no where... so when one choses to lie, it is their choice to lie... No other reason.

That would include the sin of omission... when one intentionally avoids answering questions because it would cause them to make false statements..... therefore, they remain silent... but the intent of the heart has already committed the sin even though the words are never spoken.
