Moksha
It is good to be aware of cultural celebrations ahead of time, is it not?I just wanted to mention the upcoming Canadian Breath Day from our neighbors to the north.Their annual celebration is a variation on our own Groundhog Day. Each year, Canadians step outside their homes on April 1st. Legend has it that if they do not see their breath, there will be four more weeks of winter.Circle this one on your calendar.:)

pam
I read that and thought that was the only day Canadians breathe...or they go around smelling everyone's breath on that day. If that were the case..I'm so glad I'm not Canadian. hahaha
NeuroTypical
I'll make sure I take a breath in honor of my Canadian friends. You guys deserve some recognition, after all, no other country on earth is better at being directly north of the United States!
Canuck Mormon
I've lived here for almost 35 years and I've never heard this. I thought April first was just my wife's birthday. Now we have something else to celebrate!!!!!!!!
glennh
The funny (sad) thing is that we can see our breath 365 days a year in Canada, plus our breath smells all the same, caribou and seal Edited March 7, 2009 by glennh

Canuck Mormon
Well, did you Canadians see your breath?:)Yes I did. I saw a lot of it as I was sweeping the snow off my car. Stupid climate. Anyone know of any drafting jobs in warmer climates????????
glennh
I saw my breath also but I forgot what I was supposed to do, so I hooked up the dogs to the sled and went to work as usual.
WillowTheWhisp
Shouldn't it be if you don't see your breath winter is over?
Heavenguard
I do the breath test every day I leave my house, while still on my driveway, when it starts to get chilly. When it's chilly enough to see my breath, I decide that fall is over.
Canuck Mormon
Shouldn't it be if you don't see your breath winter is over? The problem is that there is ALWAYS a chance that you can see your breath no matter what day it is. It has snowed every month of the year here.
glennh
The only sure way to know it's spring is when you see the Toronto Bluejays playing on TV. Dead giveaway
Moksha
This special Canadian Day is only a few days off. Anyone considering making a pan of Canadian brownies to share with everyone here?"Heaven is bovines to bed with on cold Canadian winter nights." ~ Le journal des femmes du Québec, 1845

Joneswilliamsc
Well I was also unknown from it. I have not seen or hear it before that Canadian are celebrating such type of day also. I really searched it on Google after reading this thread but didn't get anything more that I got it here.
bl8tant
I heard this was being replaced by "Canadian Bacon Breath Day". I plan to celebrate it religiously.

I think that would serve to illustrate the avant-guarde nature to this forum, when it can serve as the sole repository of Canadian custom.
