KeithLBrown
Despite the recession, Provo has the nation’s strongest growth for college town jobs, according to a Forbes report released on Tuesday. Thanks to a plethora of small student-related businesses and campus construction, Provo experienced a 2.9 percent growth in jobs between March 2008 and March 2009. Provo managed to outrank 67 other college towns that experienced growth, including towns surrounding Duke University, University of Virginia and Texas A&M. Moksha
Good thing we like ice cream and burgers so much, but I am wondering if they are including callings in this total?
PreparednessPro
That's great! While it may be a great job hub, it certainly isn't known for its student housing!!
the Ogre
Oh yeah, there is absolutely no place for students to live in Provo. It's the dorms or nothing.
PreparednessPro
And the places they do rent are very unimpressive. A lot of them are barely up to code and they can charge an arm and a leg because housing is so sparse. When I taught at the MTC in Provo before I got married, I lived in SLC because it was way cheaper!
Moksha
Oh yeah, there is absolutely no place for students to live in Provo. It's the dorms or nothing. Or two to a bedroom same sex living. There ought to be a proclamation about that. Shouldn't allow landlords to profiteer so heavily on student housing.
the Ogre
Shouldn't allow landlords to profiteer so heavily on student housing. The real criminals are the ones renting our to newly married couples. Or young families.
