First, if you believe in Jesus your sins have been washed away. You can have comfort in that. Try to do better in the future.

Two, Hell is real, some here joke about it but it is no laughing matter.

Where exactly is hell located? Is hell a place.. or a state of mind? I think the idea of hell being eternal torture is repulsive and no loving god would allow a place to exist.

So yes.. to me.. it is a laughing matter. Damnation on the other hand.. is not.

BMY, just because I can't tell you where hell is, does not mean it does not exist. I do not know where heaven is and I know it exists. I know heaven and hell exist because God said so. As far as being repulsed by such things, read the old testament and there are examples of God who brings on events that do not "seem" so loving. God gives, takes and does what He needs to do. He loves and forgives us. All we need do is to believe in Jesus. Lets trust in Him. I hope this helps.

To my understanding, outer darkness is for those who, after we are all judged (post-millennium) and after the resurrection of the unjust, ultimately deny Christ and put him to an open shame. So you pretty much have to side with satan and, in a sense, deny that the sun gives light to suffer for all eternity. BUT for those who die in their sins after called to repentance will suffer for a period which I believe will endure until the end of the millennium when the resurrection of the unjust takes place.

Here are some good scriptures to look into:

D&C 19:9-15

D&C 76:81-86

Hebrews 6: 4-6

2 Nephi 9:10-12

I'm convinced that it doesn't exist. I hope I'm right though

Please help me, I'm worried I'm going to hell for looking at porn and having sexual images in my head all the time, i repent everyday in my prayers but and I've tried for years now to stop but its hard but I am doing better, I don't do anything else thats really bad and I'm still a good person and I believe in God and the mormon teaching.

Soldier,

There is a good book you should read called "Will Power is Not Enough". It teaches that although will power is important through firm resistence, it is not enough. We must also have heart power where eventually the very desire to sin will also leave. Elder Bednar gave a great talk on having both "clean hands and a pure heart". We can have clean hands by repenting of our sins, however, the desire may still remain and we stay in an unbroken cycle. We must also develop a pure heart so we no longer desire to sin.

I see it as not just taking out the bad, but also putting in the good. Find things uplifting to replace the desire to sin. Get the Spirit back into your life.

Do you go to hell for looking at porn? Yes. Can you repent of the sin and be clean? Yes.

Hell does exist. The spirit world is here on this earth. The spirit world is made up of paradise and spirit prison or hell. Hell is not the way most people imagine - with fire and pitch forks.

Let me give you an idea of hell. Throughout our lives everyone on this earth has sinned. Once a sin is committed there is guilt, pain and suffering. However, over time we forget those things and they fade away. Our memories on this earth are not very good. We forget almost everything we do each day. After we die we are taught that:

"14 Wherefore, we shall have a perfect knowledge of all our guilt, and our uncleanness, and our nakedness; and the righteous shall have a perfect knowledge of their enjoyment, and their righteousness, being clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness." (2 Nephi 9:14)

"25 And if they be evil they are consigned to an awful view of their own guilt and abominations, which doth cause them to shrink from the presence of the Lord into a state of misery and endless torment, from whence they can no more return; therefore they have drunk damnation to their own souls." (Mosiah 3:25)

We will have a perfect memory. Every thing you've done on this earth will be perfectly before your eyes as if you just did it that moment. Imagine the misery of the wicked and the great joy of the righteous.

Try singing a hymn when you feel tempted to look at pornography or open the scriptures and read and pray. We all face temptation, the Lord will help you....my suggestions are HIS suggestions, if you follow them they WILL help, but you can't just do it once and stop. If you are LDS, then you must know that you can and WILL be forgiven when you have forsaken the sin. In time, you will become the kind of person who would never want to look at pornography. Hang in there, talk to your Bishop....he will help.

Isa. 1: 18

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

The tough thing about this is that porn is addictive and it can leak over to other areas of your life. One day when you get married, you really dont want that to affect your relationship. Think of your future wife, that will break her heart.

But at the same time learning to overcome something gives you so much strength, and it will bless your marriage because you will learn to be strong and work with the Lord. Trust me, experience.

Try singing a hymn

I've have done this numerous times for various things. Strange but the one that I always sing is "We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet." For some reason this song gives me support and strength when needed.

Hint: Avoid "There is beauty all around . . ."

Seriously: Bytor's advice is good, but beware that once you set up an association that association can work in reverse--making Sacrament meeting rather uncomfortable. If singing a hymn isn't helping you overcome temptation--quit doing it, and try something else.

It's not really 'Hell' then is it? I don't consider the 2 lower levels of righteousness Hell.. do you? 'Outer Darkness' on the other hand.. that sounds 'hellish' to me.

EDIT: On a better thought.. let's not de-rail this thread with debate on 'what' Hell is. I'm in agreement with you that a physical Hell does not exist.

Soldier, take yourself out of situations where you can view porn - If you view online get a program for your computer that blocks such sites (google; parental software), If its magazines - stop buying them, avoid copies friends or associates have.

Yes images will continue to pop into your mind years afterwards. Continue to ask God for help in this, and when the images come into your mind, distract yourself with other things -- as they say 'idle hands are the devils playground'

Repenting means 'to turn away from' If you are repenting every day, you're not 'turning away' from it.

See your Bishop, he is there to help you, his calling is to help all the people in his ward to follow Christ - and believe me if he's been a Bishop longer than a month he's heard this before. There are many men in the Church with this problem, so many men that many Stakes have an Addiction Recovery program and the Church prints workbooks for it.

You won't go to hell necessarily, but you will not be able to relate sexually with your future wife. She won't be able to measure up to your fantasies, and you will soon grow tire of her, even if she is as beautiful as the women you are looking at. Porn simply numbs you to love, and you will find it much harder to have a healthy sex life with just one woman. And that is a real tragedy.

.

This is 100% true and I can testify to it ( I converted as an 36 year old adult and before I was a memeber viewed much -- it made my view of women unrealistic - don't get me wrong, I love my wife more than anything, buts she's a real women not a fantasy girl - its taken me years to undo what porn did)

Most of those pictures you view are girls that have professionals doing their make up, etc. then the pics are airbrushed or photo-shopped to remove any imperfections and of course they are young -- and I'll leave it at that.)Just listen to Bytebears reasoning - its 100% true.

Never had a problem with that... and I use that a LOT. Though usually my hymns are primary songs.
