bytor2112
A STAR primed to explode in a blast that could wipe out the Earth was revealed by astronomers yesterday.

Moksha
I imagine that if the supernova already happened, it would take some time before we would know about it.

MarginOfError
Papa says, "If you see it in the Sun, it's so."Wouldn't it be more accurate to say, "If you see it in the Sun, it was." ???
FunkyTown
Could potentially happen. If the supernova occurred a few thousand years ago, then by the time we saw the rapid brightening of the star we would be hit by the gamma rays.Biblically, that could theoretically be the cause of a few things:Revelation 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.Could be? A supernova blast would cause something like this: The sudden erasure of our ozone layer would horribly damage our grass and plants.Plus, there's this in Revelation 6:14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.A sudden supernova explosion might just make it look like the stars just rolled up as light exploded around us, seeming to erase the background to white. As for the mountains and islands being moved, perhaps a simultaneous earthquake.I'm not saying this is what's going to happen. Just puttin' it out there. :)

(But of course that's very recent in terms of geological time.)

Guest Godless
Let's hope there's still time for England's very own stars to put in a stella performance at this summer's World Cup in South Africa.I'm glad to see that the Brits have their priorities straight. Guest
I'm glad to see that the Brits have their priorities straight.Unfortunately, the Brit stars will never be able to shine brightly because the Spanish stars will crush them... Moksha
Wouldn't it be more accurate to say, "If you see it in the Sun, it was." ??? Try telling that to little Virginia when she asks about Santa again. Wait, will Santa be around a hundred, nay a thousand years from now???! Not without ozone.
