BrotherBear
You'll never believe this. I live outside of Pasadena and last night while sleeping I heard a loud shatter. I thought someone had busted my window! I ran in there real quick with my mace and my glass table in the space room was shattered everywhere. It looked like it exploded! So, I flip the light on to clean it up and there's a bullet laying on the floor kind of embedded in it. I look around and don't see any holes. Look at the ceiling, yep, a hole and drywall cracked around it.Evidently what happened, best I can tell, is after Alabama won some football game or something someone (I thought it was fireworks) was shooting up in the AIR! The police came and took all the details (they weren't too happy about the newspapers in the other room, ugh). I doubt they'll find the person but why would ANYONE shoot up in the AIR?http://www.lds.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=344&d=1262978105http://www.lds.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=345&d=1262978159
MorningStar
Holy cow!!!! Thank goodness no one was on the room at the time. You might not be as unlucky as you think.
Wingnut
Shooting up in the air isn't surprising. Doing it indoors is just idiotic.
BrotherBear
It came through the roof, I live on the 2nd floor of a 2 story apartment. Wonder if it's the same thugs below me who broke in to play my Wii and use my soap.

hordak
This illustrates the problems with California's gun laws. The idiot willing to break the law has one. While the guy trying to defend his home has souped up hot sauce:( Seriously though Glad no one got hurt..
talisyn
Hordak, I really don't see how having a gun would have prevented the table destruction Brother Bear, I'm so glad it was a table and not a spleen!

They like to get tumors any way. J/k I am glad to hear it was only your table and floor hit by the bullet!
bytebear
It is illegal in California to shoot a gun in the air. It is a common practice in Spanish speaking countries to the south of us. And they have big problems with it all the time.

john doe
I thought Mythbusters busted that one. They claimed that a bullet falling at terminal velocity would only sink into the ground a couple inches. Of course, shooting up at an angle might produce more energy on impact because it technically would still be driven by the gunpowder, but still that would be an unusual thing for a falling bullet to go through a roof and ceiling with enough force to do much damage. I would call it a lucky(?) fluke. Or I would check to see if someone could have shot down through the roof from above.
Moksha
Or I would check to see if someone could have shot down through the roof from above. Possibly from gun toting hang-gliders.
john doe
Possibly from gun toting hang-gliders. I know that was an attempt at a joke, but I was serious. It may possibly be someone was on the roof or even a higher building.
RipplecutBuddha
In a related story, I broke a full-length mirror tring to hang it on a door. I'm supposed to get seven years of bad luck, but my attorney thinks he can get me down to three or four.
