Dravin Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 I've only recently been converted to the dark side, and I'm curious where others stand. Quote
Wingnut Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 If I'm eating it by itself, I prefer milk chocolate. If I'm eating it with or on something, I prefer dark. Have you ever had dark chocolate peanut butter cups? Yummmmmmmmy! Quote
Dravin Posted February 12, 2010 Author Report Posted February 12, 2010 No I haven't. To date most of the dark chocolate I've have had is chili infused. Chuao Chocolatier makes an amazing dark chocolate bar called "Spicy Maya", it's infused with chilies and cinnamon. It's amazing. Lindt makes a chili infused bar but it is quite inferior. Quote
annamaureen Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Milk chocolate all the way. Dark is too bitter, and white is just... ehh. Quote
Dravin Posted February 12, 2010 Author Report Posted February 12, 2010 The darker the better. I have limits. The 50% - 60% cocoa level is perfect for me, at least at this point. Quote
Honor Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 It's not so much that I don't like it at all, but only in small doses and I've never craved it. I guess I'm just "meh" about chocolate. Sorry I'm not as sweet a person as I'm sure you all believe! Deal with it! Quote
dazed-and-confused Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 The darker the better. I couldn't agree more, jena...great minds, and taste buds, think alike....lol. Quote
Mahone Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 (edited) I think we should start a petition to ban the person who voted "I don't like chocolate" for violation of rule #12, particularly the highlighted parts.12. But if I go, I'm taking the poll creator down with me for giving me the option! Quote
Dravin Posted February 13, 2010 Author Report Posted February 13, 2010 Better let her be Mahone. I'm not sure I could take on her mustache. :) Quote

Just_A_Guy Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I have limits. The 50% - 60% cocoa level is perfect for me, at least at this point. The trouble is, as time goes on it doesn't satisfy you and you go looking for harder and harder stuff until you find yourself dead to the world, curled up in a corner and chewing on raw cacao beans. Nikkie85 Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I love both but if I had to pick would go with milk chocolate. Dove has awesome dark chocolate! Quote
Moksha Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Both milk and dark chocolate is okay by me. That more bitter Mexican chocolate is good too. Think white chocolate belongs more in the vegetable oil category than as a chocolate. Quote
Tarnished Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I used to be a huge white chocolate fan, but then my husband proposed to me with 15 lbs of white chocolate and I got sick of it. Over the last few years I have really fallen in love with milk chocolate. But it has to be quality stuff, like chocolate that you get from Germany or Austria (Aldi carries it). I have gotten to a point where I can enjoy dark chocolate but most of it is really just too dark for me. This really is a step up into the chocolate lovers ring as before I began to love milk chocolate I really didn't care too much for chocolate. I think the change happened one month when I found myself really craving chocolate and ended up searching the entire house for chocolate. As it is though neither myself nor my husband eat a lot of chocolate. We keep a stack of German chocolate on top of the fridge and mostly use it for giving chocolate to visiting friends. Quote

Now I've been eating only dark chocolate for something like the past 10 days or so. Anyway, when I consumed the piece of milk chocolate (it even had hazelnuts), my first thought was, "This doesn't taste like chocolate." My second one was, "This doesn't taste like much of anything but sweet" and my third was,"Thank goodness I've got some dark chocolate in reach." I then promptly popped a piece of dark chocolate in my mouth.Just a cautionary tale to those who aren't inclined to take Just_A_Guy seriously. Quote
Bini Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I would say that overall I prefer milk chocolate but there are some dark chocolate that are absolutely divine! I would have voted for milk and dark if that were an option because it's a very close call between the two. Quote
Maureen Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I voted for milk chocolate but dark chocolate is a very close second. Pot of Gold's dark chocolate that I tried during Christmas was wonderful. M Quote
rameumptom Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Milk chocolate is for commie-pinkos that can't handle the real stuff or real life. Quote
rameumptom Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 FYI, the owner of Amano chocolate is LDS, Clark Goble. Great dark chocolate, but expensive.Chocolate Torte | The Amano Chocolate Blog Quote
