I served my mission in England....and Christmas pudding with rum or any other type of alcohol is against W of W......

Can you explain why it would be against the WOW? SS is right...the alcohol evaporates when heated and just the flavor remains.

If we are allowed to use extracts for cooking (alcohol) than what would be the deal with using brandy or rum for flavoring?

Anyone know? :dontknow:

Not all the alchohol is removed.

Anyway, I do not have a doctrine and covenants but I think it says something about not eating foods that are made with Alcohol. I guess this is just staying on the safe side.

Alcohol has been known to increase the rate of cancer growth.

So I guess it is a good idea just to keep safe.

Anyway, chocolate is amazing!

Fast off chocolate for a few days and then have the richest, darkest chocolate you can find, it feels like one BIG hug! :D

:hmmm: I think that the biggest sin is pride and misbehaviour. Its not a sin at all but its the first think before "normal sin" - you are proud so you want to show people aroud that you are great and that you can be special.. so you for example lies, brake the word of wisdom or some other commandment. Or you dont just believe that you can make it ( whan troubles comes) and you dont believe that He can make it for you - so you try to fight off problems other way - alcohol, pornography or just immure yourself from other world... its my own experience!

(PS sorry for bad english I am from europe and I am not very good in that) ;)

Pride is definately a hard one to overcome.

I think one of the hardest temptations is "going out". So many people have that it seems normal. The New Era for Sept. 2005 (Q&A section) helped me so much. I personally never wanted to, but all of my friends have. It irks me so much. The prophets have clearly stated that you aren't supposed to.

Another hard temptation is immodesty. For some poeple anyway. It is so easy to justify, but when it brings unwonted reactions you wear things that get sleazier and sleazier. Modesty is a hard thing to follow these days. NOBODY carries enough modest clothes. The ones that do (Modest is Hottest, etc..) are such small businesses that you can't hardly afford them.

Thats my views.

yes. maturbation is a sin If you are involved in it you cant go ona mission (but, if you stop you can!) its about as bad as a WoW violation...i think. But its can lead to other things adn is sexual isloating. So yeah. its bad.

I thik one way parents can reduce things is letting kida reble in small ways but stop it there. honestly. I used to be the most gothic kid around. now the only think that i we're thats riske is i tend to wear is tight pants..maybe once a week...but rele if a kid id alywed generaly harmless ways to rebel....then they reject bigger counsuls less.

i think that the worst temptation is unrighteous jugdement towards others.

For example: My friend whom I've grown up with in my ward moved away. Her parents worked alot and went to their new ward only a couple times because time was rough for them. The young women in her ward, and just the ward in general, just assumed her family to be "inactive" and didn't really treat them as people of the ward.. but rather they had judged their family and felt sorry for them. In their minds, they thought that my friend and her family didn't want to go to church and were too lazy... Little did they know of their true reasons and the harsh trials they had to endure.

Yes, I believe that some members judge too quickly and unjustly. That needs to change.

The youth need to help built eachother up and judge righteously, like Jesus Christ would do.

I think you are wrong about members judging to quickly, at my ward I turned up one day 15 with a huge bump (I was 7months pregnant) and not one of them gave me a funny look or made any sort of comments. I felt, rather than them judge me, they loved me more.

I am a mother of teenagers. :D I need to comment on this because I have been shopping with my daughter for jeans. Fashion sure hasn't done us any favors in keeping ourselves modest. The jeans they sell now days are so low cut that if you bend over you are showing yourself to the world. I am from the generation where "hip huggers" can into fashion. I remember my mom saying "don't you feel like they will fall off?" I don't remember how long I wore them for but by the time I was married in the temple they were long gone. I sometimes have trouble finding jeans for myself that come to my waist, don't laugh cause that is where they should fit in my eyes. I have heard comments from men of all ages that say that it is almost expected that if a female bends over without a shirt to cover her backside there will be a "show".

Now to the men and "sagging" what is with that? I can laugh because they show their underwear. The other day I was with my family in Utah and there was a young "skater" looking dude who was working as busing tables in the Mexican restaurant we were at. This guy had a belt on but his pants (at least in the back) were below his backside synched up real tight so he wouldn't loose them. :hmmm: I have seen plenty of guys with the tops of their underwear showing but this was extreme and my whole family wondered what the point of his jeans were. :dontknow:

The clothing that has become acceptable comes and goes. The things that stay with you are how you respect yourself as an individual. I know that while you are in High School things like this seem to matter but this is such a short period of time when you look at your life. Sure if you dress to get attention ATTENTION is what you will get. The question is what kind of attention do you want? High School is such a farce it doesn't predict where you will be going in life, that happens with the decisions you make after High School. High School can however color your self image, keep that image clear and unclouded, and make good choices. Find good friends who will help keep you on the right path and most of all be that good friend to yourself. :)

Worst tempation is to loose all hope. That leads to depression, low expectations, negative thinking, isolation, and no direction. That opens the doors to risky behavior, failure, and abuse.

I would tend to agree with this statement. VERY SAD but true, :(

My teens refuse to believe that fashion runs in cycles. I've showed them pictures of me - in the mid 80's - wearing strategically ripped/shredded, tight, bleached/faded jeans, obnoxious belts, and bare midriff T-shirts. They say I look like a freak and that fishions are totally different now than when I was young. OK, so my jeans rode a little higher on the hip and didn't have fancy stitching on the pockets and my shirt was loose, not lycra - and my hair was BIG, not straightened. But really, it's the same stuff.

Fashion comes and goes. No matter what the fashion is, you can find something to wear that looks good on you and covers up what shouldn't show.

I have to agree with SF - keep yourself unspotted during High School and you will be sooooo much happier later on. High School feels like all the world, but in just 5 years you'll look back and wonder how it seemed so important at the time.
