Why would a professional investment firm sell stock when it was at a 90-day high? Not too difficult to guess.

But if you need another theory: maybe they believed--as this market analyst did the day before the blast--that a government crackdown on financial firms trading oil futures could cause the bottom to fall out of oil prices.

Actually it does seem a bit difficult to guess....and what you say seems difficult to believe......sounds rigged by all involved to me. That's what seems not too difficult to guess in my eyes!

Oh and I apologize for the misspelling of your name that was truly a mistake....

Dude, I linked to an article dated the day before the spill explaining why it was (arguably) good to get out of oil generally, as soon as possible.

I figured it was (but thanks for stepping up for me, JD).

Oils a lubricant right???? I mean what does the earth need oil for? What is the repercussion of all this to earth? Does the earth need this element to work properly and are we draining a key part to the planet functioning properly?

Huh? The earth doesn't need oil anymore than it needs diamonds, it is something that happens as a result of geologic processes. It's kinda like finding a dust bunny under someone's couch and asking them why they need dust bunnies. As far as the planet functioning properly you could extract every ounce of oil out of the crust and geologic processes will keep on happily churning away as they have for billions of years (and as John Doe pointed out, oil will keep on being created, just not at a rate useful for human consumption).

Latest slipped from two scientist at the first meeting talked as this was pure speculation....I have to agree with their statement. Today, this issue on oil is formed has began some grass roots in causing a dividing of opinions from this old notion. Having old oil wells that require to be recapped in the last decade may have some knew answers to the former belief.

Hopefully, our blood doesn't drained the rate we are doing to the earth to renew itself.

Trulykiwi this is question that needs to be answered.

In my post - # 46 of this thread - Item #5 I mentioned that some engineer warned of the problem before it happened and that management would not respond.

I wanted to point out that this process was followed in the BP failed rig. Link FOXNews.com - BP Engineer Called Doomed Rig a 'Nightmare Well'

I failed to add, this morning: as I stated before, the president was given the opportunity by specific European company who latest technology could have helped to prevent the further spillage to the coastal regions. He turned it down. Why? As I stated before, this man wants to create disasters in order to be a Savior to stop the disasters. According to the meager news wire, the government wants to step in to be that savior...

That's nuts. Of course he would stop it if he or the Government could actually could He's not holding off just to play the hero. If anybody is hoping to use this to a political advantage it's Jendal who first didn't want U.S. stimulus money and now cries - Where's the Government to save us?!!!

I wonder if those fishermen who are crying down there about their livelihood have actually sat down and told themselves - "Hey, I voted conservative all my life. I voted for those who support deregulation and less and less Government oversight. I supported the Bush administration and their attack on big government. Look what has happened! Less oversight means more disasters! It's my fault! It's my fault! It's my fault for supporting those who want companies to have free rule over everything and everybody!"

Yeah fishermen, it is your fault too. You are getting what you have voted for. Enjoy. Factories are closing down all the time in the mid-west. They are told - get retrained! Ok, fishermen - stop your sobbing and go get retrained!

As I already mentioned to you elsewhere,

AG Holder has already hinted he has a laundry list of regulatory violations he's planning to deploy against BP. Which indicates that federal regulation did not keep BP from doing illegal stuff.

The knowledge that one will be held financially liable for the consequences of one's negligence by a functional civil court system, is a far better deterrent to bad behavior than is a battery of regulators who (apparently) spend a decent portion of their days watching naughty videos on the taxpayers' dime.

News Alert: Gulf oil leak estimates dramatically rise again

05:28 PM EDT Tuesday, June 15, 2010

--------------------

The government's Flow Rate Technical Group estimates that the BP well is now leaking 35,000 to 60,000 barrels a day into the Gulf of Mexico, the Interior Department said in a statement. Last Thursday saw the release of three preliminary estimates of the flow from before the well's riser pipe was sheared, ranging from 12,600 to 50,000 barrels a day. Initial estimates of the flow were 5,000 barrels of oil a day.

BP is working to capture part of the oil flow, though containment efforts were halted earlier this afternoon due to a ship fire.

Yeah, because we all know that all disasters are caused by conservatives. ;)Everyone knows that this had nothing to do with regulators too busy watching porn to pay attention to what the drillers who were continually pushed into deeper and deeper water by liberals were doing. And we all know that even though this happened on Obama's watch, anything bad that happens can be blamed on George Bush. But if anything good happens it's all due to the superior leadership of Obama, and nothing to do with any predecessor.
