pam
Before Brigham Young left Nauvoo he had a dream in which he saw an angel standing on a hill pointing to a valley below. When Brigham Young entered the valley 18 months later, he saw the location as he had seen in the dream. He declared the valley of the Great Salt Lake and the mountains surrounding it as that prophesied place from which the word of the Lord would go forth in the latter days. Now through General Conference we testify to every nation, kindred, tongue and people. No man or woman who speaks at conference is given a topic. Each is to fast, pray, study, seek and start the process again until he or she is confident that this is the topic the Lord wants them to speak on. Is it surprising that they are so varied? With new methods of communications the larger proportion of those listening are not members of the Church. Clearly anyone who thinks Jesus taught no-fault theology did not read the fine print in the contract! No, in matters of discipleship the Church is not a fast-food outlet; we can’t always have it “our way.”
