Neil L. Andersen - Priesthood session

Recommended Posts

He spoke specifically to the 12-25 year olds who hold the Priesthood.

One of your most important responsibilities is to help prepare the world for the Second Coming of Christ.

Missionary service is a Priesthood obligation. An obligation that the Lord expects.

He spoke of Sidney Going who was from New Zealand and was set to be selected to play on the All Blacks Rugby team. One of the highest honors in the sport of rugby.

At age 19, he decided to go on a mission instead. He was told he was foolish and was throwing away a chance of a lifetime. But he felt a duty to serve the Lord and not even given the chance to play for the All Blacks would deter him from that duty.

During his mission he was able to teach a family the gospel and they were all baptized. He described that even a place on the rugby team did not take the place of bringing someone into the gospel.

What happened to Sid Going after his mission? He married his wife in the temple, had 5 children and a generation of grandchildren. What about rugby? He became one of the greatest halfbacks in the All Blacks History. He played for 11 seasons and served for many years as their team captain.

The Church is being established across the world. Even general conference is being translated into 92 languages.

Worthiness and preparation for a mission is essential. Your actions before your mission will greatly influence the Priesthood power you bring with you on your mission.

50 percent of missionaries serve in their own homeland.
