Thomas S. Monson - Priesthood session

Recommended Posts

May we be worthy recipients of the divine power of the priesthood we bear. May it bless our lives and may we use it to bless the lives of others.

We have come to earth during troubled times. The new morality seems to be "almost anything goes."

President Monson states that during his life he has seen the chasm between the standards of the Church and the standards of society growing wider.

He implored all to not use profanity and especially using the Lord's name in vain.

Stay completely away from pornography. Don't ever allow yourself to view it. It has been proven to be an addiction even harder to to overcome than tobacco, drugs and alcohol.

If you have not read the Book of Mormon, read it. If you do not already have a testimony of it, of the Prophet Joseph Smith and that the church is true; do everything in your power to obtain it.

Cease any unrighteousness. Talk to your Bishop. Whatever problem it is can be worked out through proper repentance.

We can be in the world but not of the world.

Said President Harold B. Lee, “We are not doing our duty as holders of the priesthood when we go beyond the marriageable age and withhold ourselves from an honorable marriage to these lovely women.”

If you are concerned about being able to financially support a wife, there is no shame in scrimping. If you are afraid of making the wrong choice, exercise faith.

Perhaps you are having too much fun being single. Taking extravagant vacations, buying expensive toys and cars and enjoying the carefree life.

He spoke of the saddest and most discouraging parts since his call to be a Prophet and that is the requests for cancellation of temple sealings. He counseled that your wife is your equal. You walk hand in hand. There should be no unrighteous dominion.

The gift of the priesthood is priceless.

My ex-wife and I just put a request in for cancellation of temple sealings. I'm very sad that the Prophet is hurt by it. My ex-wife has met a wonderful man. I pray that this time it will work out for her, that they will be sealed in the temple and be together for the rest of their lives.
