The prophet is calling all worthy men and woman to serve missions. Be happy. Send him or her on their way with a hug and a kiss good by. Think about how long we are here on earth- and we are separated from the presence of God, but he says it will be "but a short moment". God is our spiritual father, and he misses us just as much (if not more so) as you are now contemplating missing your boyfriend. Yet, separation begets growth, and this time is what the Lord has asked of him to serve others and bring them to the gospel. This is a wonderful thing! You know a young man who is strong in the faith and leaving on his mission despite personal attachments to do what the Lord has asked of him. To act selflessly and give up two years of his time to serve others. Be proud of him. Support him. And work on yourself while he is gone. See what you can do to prepare yourself for the mission the Lord has in store for you, whether you become a literal missionary or find yourself serving in some other capacity.
