Thomas S. Monson (Sunday am session)

In this fast paced life do we ever pause for a moment of meditation of timeless and endless truths?

Answers to the questions of, where did we come from, why are we here, where are we going, do not come from academia or searching the internet.

Heaven lies about us in our infancy.

Parents provide guidance and example.

We should be grateful that a wise creator placed us here with a veil of forgetfulness so that we might experience a time of testing and prove ourselves.

We discover that there are consequences attached to our actions.

From experience we learn to look heavenward for assistance.

Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ beckons us to become perfect as they are perfect.

The prize belongs to him that endures to the end.

We have been provided divine attributes to our mortality. We are able to reason, think, to achieve.

Death comes to all mankind. We know that death is not the end.

It is the celestial glory that we seek. It is in the presence of God that we want.

Our Heavenly Father rejoices in those that keep His commandments. He wants all that have strayed to come back.

Loved His Talk...thanks for your notes...I love reading other people's because there is often a different emphasis as we can't record all of his words. Here are my notes...

President Thomas S Monson

Everywhere people are in a hurry in a seemingly endless stream rushing about in the business of the day. Do we ever pause for moments of meditation? Most concerns of daily living are rather trivial. These things lose their significance in times of crisis. At those times our thoughts become more focused and we can more easily determine the important things. Such moments of clarity come. Lay not for yourselves treasures on Earth. The spirit and the body is the soul of man. Traililng clouds of Glory we come from God. We ponder why we are here, how grateful we should be that we were placed here on Earth so that we might experience a time of testing in order to prove ourselves and qualify for all that God would have us receive. We learn from experience and learn there are consequences. Life moves ever forward as we make our way along life's pathway. He has marked the way and beckons us to follow eternal verities to become perfect as They are perfect.

Let us run with patience the race that is set before us. The race is not to the swift, the prize belongs to those who endure to the end. Toy boats of childhood float (without power) inevitably downstream in the path of least resistance. WE have divine attributes with POWER to think, reason and achieve. Our Heavenly Father gave means to receive guidance to insure our safe return. I speak of prayer, whispering of the still small voice and the words of prophets in scripture. If a man die shall he live again? Death comes to all mankind. Death is like going into another room where we will find our loved ones again. The spirits of ALL men are taken back to that God who gave them life. Then the spirit of those who are righteous are received in to a state of rest and peace. After the Savior was crucified he was resurrected. He has risen...as a result we will all be resurrected. It is celestial glory, God's presence and a forever family that we seek. These things are earned. We know where we are going. He says, "Come unto me."
