Weather "Weirding" 2012 - Drought in US?

lds2, the reason why europe has been experiencing colder then usall winters, is because of the great ice melt off of the arctic, Greenland and Iceland. The fresh cold water is circulating in the Atlantic which is having a strong affect on the weather in Europe. Think of the arctic as the northern hemisphere air conditioner. If you put the AC aka, water melt, into the Atlantic, it will cool the Atlantic air and trade winds will push that into Europe.

2/3 of the plant is coveted by water. Majority of coastal countries weather are affected by oceanic water temperatures.

Im afraid, if most of the arctic is ice free, global droughts and famine in the northern hemisphere will follow.

It seems also that the "trade winds" have not been working right for several years now. Whether this is caused by the same phenomenon are something else is a huge debate.

But the "500 year" drought in Russia and the almost non-stop flooding in other areas that year were caused by failure of the winds to move systems.

The flooding in the northern part of the country last year and the drought in the south were caused by something similar.

The drought this year is also caused by a failure of the winds to work the way they are supposed to.

What is causing this is a debate similar to "the chicken and the egg."

Some people say it started with the currents in the gulf getting messed up by the oil disaster there. Other's global warming or "colding" ...

Our "weather weirding" is most likely an unfortunate combination of many things.

  • 4 weeks later...

"Federal scientists are saying this July was overall the hottest on record. The NEAA reported that the stretch from August 2011 through to July of this year was the warmest 12-month period the U.S. has EVER experienced. “The current year is out and beyond those Dust Bowl years. We're rivaling and beating them consistently from month to month.”

Jake Crouch of NOAA's National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C.

as a result this is what researchers believe will happen...

“World food prices look set to hit an all-time high in the first quarter of next year – and then keep rising...”

They say this is because global grain and oilseed reserves are set to decline to critically low levels…”

The world will continue to see record food prices 'within a year' due to US drought... (Telegraph)

Sandy's strength, as indicated by barometric pressure just before landfall, set a record.

Sandy's strength and angle of approach combined to produce a record storm surge of water into New York City. The surge level at Battery Park topped a record breaking 13.88 feet at 9:24 p.m. Monday.

New York Harbor's surf also reached a record level when a buoy measured a 32.5-foot wave Monday.

As Sandy approached the Northeast was roughly twice the size of Texas with tropical-force winds reaching out 580 miles.

Sandy's power cut electricity service to a record 7.5 million businesses and households without electric power.

First storm to seriously damage NY subway system.
