Mystery By the Sea by Bram Stoker

After having finally read Bram Stoker's Dracula, I was at the library a couple of months ago and saw this book, also be Stoker, and decided on impulse to see what else Stoker had done.

It was decent story about one Archie Hunter who suddenly develops the ability to see into the future, falls in love with a young American named Marjory, gets involved in the search for a long lost Spanish treasure, and a kidnapping.

Sounds like a fun book. I wonder if it's free on ebooks?

I'm currently rereading "Dracula" this month for my book club group. I read it years ago when I was a teenager. The book is nothing like the dramatized versions in movies. When I read it the first time and this time too, I feel such a feeling of repulsion towards the Count.

Is it more of the standard novel format? I liked the storytelling device Stoker employed in Dracula of relying on journal entries and newspaper clippings to relate the events.

Correct, this book is written in a more traditional novel format, first person point of view.

When done well, the format used in Dracula (I've seen it called an epistolary format) can be compelling.
