Guest
The last couple of years I've followed the lead of some women I know and instead of making specific resolutions, I've chosen a word to focus on for the year. I think the first year I did it, the word was "flexibility". Our life was in a lot of uncertain upheaval, and I wanted to be able to roll with the punches. This year my word was "light". . . to be more willing to lighten my burdens by placing them on Christ, to end the year physically lighter than I started, and to generally take things with a lighter heart instead of wearing the weight of the world on my shoulders. I think that, overall, I've done pretty well. Not perfect of course, but I'm generally happy with my progress. I'm still thinking about a word for 2013. If you were to choose a word to represent your hopes for 2013, what would it be?
pam
I'm thinking right now if I had to choose right this moment..my word would be "strength." I'm finding it extremely hard with things going on in my life to feel any sort of strength.
Guest
I think that's a great one, pam. Phillippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
classylady
I'm in need of some "strength" right now too. Not that my testimony is weak, but rather, I'm stretched so thin, I could use some added strength beyond my own.
Guest
I'm thinking "endure" or "endurance". . . but then I'm a little scared that I'm asking for the opportunity to build up more endurance. LOL

Yeh my testimony is not weak..but just so many things going on in my life that have just about stretched me to the breaking point.

I should do some kind of craft thing with that scripture so that I see it every day.

Guest
There is no "I" in "Zion". (Come on, it was funny.)
pam
You want his word to be "Zon?" :)
MsMagnolia
Eowyn that is a great tradition. I am going to have to give it some thought.
pam
I think I will keep my word strength. I now have the idea to make a book out of this..like a scrap book and put quotes, talks, pictures and anything I can find on the subject. I can refer to it when I need to find that "strength" on bad days.
Wingnut
I noticed this trend a year ago, and thought about it, but never got around to doing it. I'm anti-resolutions, but I decided that I like this "word" idea. Amusingly, my word for 2013 will be what I failed to make my word a year ago, though I thought about it:I posted this on Instagram and my Facebook page earlier today, before seeing this thread. My word is "do," because it encompasses many goals I have for 2013. I want to stop thinking and talking about things and actually do them. I have some medical and dental things I need to take care of, I want to actually write a business plan for my photography and register as a small business. I want to stop planning to exercise and actually do it. There are a number of other things that I'm sure I'll think of along the way, but my overarching vision for 2013 is for me to stop dreaming and start doing. Wingnut
P.S. Eowyn, your new avatar is throwing me off. I see pencil/cartoon type drawings and assume it's John Doe posting.
dahlia
I'm thinking "endure" or "endurance". . . but then I'm a little scared that I'm asking for the opportunity to build up more endurance. LOLYes. I think I've 'endured' all I want to endure for the time being, and I know there's more on the horizon. So no, no need to ask for more.
