What’s the last movie you watched?

About half of Hansel and Gretel: The Foul-Mouthed Siblings and Their Ridiculously Anachronistic Fantasy World (or something like that). Shamefully, we waded through a fair amount of filthy language before finally pulling the plug when some woman takes off her clothes in a cleverly subtle attempt to seduce Hansel. Oh, my. What kind of people make, or watch, such drek? Given the existence of such a movie, I can almost understand why pornography like 50 Shades of Grey has a market.

I think this is the very first movie I've encountered where the title alone convinced me it wasn't worth watching.  (And that's saying a lot.)

I just finished watching the first Mission: Impossible movie from 1996 with Tom Cruise.  Halfway through I stopped and restarted it from the beginning with subtitles turned on so I could read the characters' names and follow the plot more carefully.  I stopped again halfway through and read the detailed synopsis on IMDB, including the spoiler.  Watched the rest of the movie and was still perplexed by many aspects of the plot that made no sense to me.  There were islands of intelligibility here and there, and a lot of glitzy action and one poor character who repeatedly vomited, but the plot was rather like a Rube Goldberg machine.  I think I'll go back to the original TV series.

Ghost.

Yeah.  I walked into the room and my husband was watching the movie all by himself.  And I'm like... whoa, you will voluntarily watch that chick flick?  And he said - yeah.  It's the last movie my mom took me to the theaters for so it's a special movie.  I've been married to this guy for coming on 18 years and I never knew that.  So, I sat down and watched the movie with him.  I wasn't particularly liking this movie when it came out and I'm still blah about it now, but my husband really likes it.

And on the TV route -

I finally finished watching Arrow Season 1... I've had this show on my DVR for 2 years...

I'd suggest watching the Ghost Protocol one, it's been my favorite MI movie thus far. And it tends to make sense most of the time.

Dude... you can't say Seventh Son and not give a review!  I've been waiting to catch this on the theaters... was it any good???

LOL...sorry. I started to post and got called away so just added the movie.

I loved this movie. I actually want to see it again because there was so much action in it that I know I missed a few things. I really liked the story line. There was a part in it where the bad/ugly witch turned beautiful and nice... but it was a trick. It made me think about how many people are tricked i real life by "wolves in sheep's clothing".

When I see movies, I always try to find some spiritual content in it... I found lots in this one. Good, bad, and ugly.

I give it about a 9... probably a 10 when I see it again. LOL

Thanks, I have all the MI flicks teed up in my Netflix queue, but I'll watch out for GP.  And I hear MI 5 will be out this July.  (But I'm still going to turn on subtitles so I can pay closer attention to the plot.)

Kingsmen: The Secret Service... It was intense and funny too. BUT... the cussing was out of control and a heads up... the very end, they showed a full out butt of a woman. WHY did they do that? It was not needed in the movie and for me it was embarrassing with my husband and nephew sitting right there. Okay...so it was only a butt, but it was right out there in your face taking up the whole screen. Whatever!

Perhaps they should have named it "Rear Window."

This was like a cross between James Bond and Pulp Fiction.

Watched it.  The kids liked it (well, put a dragon or two in a movie and they'll like it enough).  And, Jeff Bridges is my 11-year-old's favorite actor (don't ask me why, I have no clue either).  It was good but I kinda got a huh? moment when after his mom's visit telling him he's ready, he immediately got really good at wielding swords...

Johnny Cool.

Stupid movie.

Here's the worst dialogue (paraphrased): "I drove him up to the man's home and he threw a bomb into his pool that killed him.  He is a very bad person.  You have to help me because if he walks through that door, I will go back to him."

But, one thing I really love about old movies - women have such grace.  Just the way they walk is so graceful.  You know why I don't watch WNBA?  They run like men, they shoot like men, they look like men but they suck at basketball compared to the NBA.  Might as well watch NBA.

Are you referring to the BBC 2009 mini series with Jonny Lee Miller and Romola Garai?  It's my fave!

Okay, so we watched the 2009 version of Emma on Friday and Saturday. And...

I loved it. It is now my favorite film version of Emma. (Though to be honest, the competition isn't exactly all that stiff. I enjoyed the 1996-ish version we watched a little while ago perhaps a bit better than the Gwynneth Paltrow version, which I thought was light and fluffy and more or less without substance, entertaining in the same way cotton candy tastes good.) Almost every position was exquisitely filled and played. My biggest beef was actually with Emma, though in retrospect I think she was actually an excellent Emma, just not quite the way I had imagined her. I found her very hard to like early on, but by the end of the third hour, she was growing on me.

So thanks to Connie for the recommendation!
