Church statement "satisfied" regarding BSA Proposed Policy Change

Recommended Posts

The proposed policy itself, from the BSA website.

The potential applications of "Scouting is a youth program, and any sexual conduct, whether homosexual or heterosexual, by youth of Scouting age is contrary to the virtues of Scouting" are interesting and, to me, potentially very problematic. I suspect we'll be seeing another policy change--or at least a major clarification--before the decade is out.

It's possible. I'm not sure either way. I've been hearing some chatter from our local council executive that if such issues come up, the councils will probably leave it up to the chartering units to deal with.

I've gotten the feeling that the BSA in general would rather the issue be dealt with at the chartering organization level, but that plan received very little support from any side of the issue in the Voice of the Scout survey.
