Robert D. Hales - Saturday am session

Robert D. Hales

We are gathered in His conference.

The first general conference in these latter days were convened just 2 months after the church was organized and continues today.

These conferences are directed by the Lord and guided by His spirit.

Speakers are not assigned specific topics. The decision as to what to speak on is done after prayer, fasting and study.

Why doesn’t inspiration come more quickly? You must study it out in your mind and then you must ask if it be right.

We study it out in our minds in what we need and desire from Heavenly Father. And we pray to understand and apply what we are taught.

In conferences we can receive the word of the Lord.

Oh how we need General Conference. Our testimonies are deepened.

We strengthen each other when we stand strong in these last days.

The world is moving away from the Lord faster and farther than ever before.

We may not know all of the reasons why the Prophet and different speakers address us on the topics, but the Lord does.

We need to pay heed to the words and commandments that the Lord reveals to his Prophets.

If you listen to the words of the Prophets as if from the mouth of the Lord himself with patience and faith, the gates of hell will not come down upon you.

The greatest blessings of general conference come after the conference is over. When we return to our homes and live what we have been taught.

We can receive the words of the talks given at General Conference by computer and other means quickly after the sessions are done.

If you pray with sincere desire to hear the Fathers voice and the messages of this conference he will help to strengthen and lead you home.

Pretty cool how the first talk in the first session of General Conference was on the importance and purpose of General Conference and how it will bless us in our lives as we study and listen. I really liked how he testified and talked of its being the Lord's Conference.
