The Aaronic Priesthood holder should take part in the teaching that takes place during home teachers. This prepares them for missions as well as a lifetime of service. The home teaching program is in response to revelation. Home teaching is our most urgent service to inspire. It is a divine call. It is the duty of the home teacher to carry the word into every home and every heart. In performing home teaching responsibilities we are wise to learn of the challenges of each family member and what would be effective in teaching each. Appointments made in advance is best. You might find yourself teaching three apostles. Home teaching is more than a mechanical visit. If any of you have slipped into complacency regarding home teaching visits, there is no better time to recommit yourself. To the Home Teachers of the Church - Ensign May 1987 - ensignBut the last half was his own stuff. I do like how he emphasized that HT is more than numbers. I think it is important for priesthood holders to remember that home teaching is a sacred responsibility. When I do a presidency message on home teaching I call it personal ministry.
