Dallin H. Oaks - Sunday am session

We offend God when we serve other gods.

What common priorities take place over God?

Cultural and family traditions

Political correctness

Power and prestige

The plan of salvation explains the purpose of creation. The need for a Savior and the vital role of eternal families.

Knowledge of God’s plan for His children gives a unique perspective for marriage and families.

The marriage of a man and a women is required for the accomplishment of God’s plan.

We look on marriage and the bearing of children as part of God’s plan and a sacred duty for those given the opportunity to do so.

God loves all of His children everywhere.

He has given His salvation free for all men.

We are responsible for being charitable, loving to ALL men.

We are to be understanding of the beliefs of ALL people.

We also hope that others will be respectful to our beliefs.

Many persons affiliated with other denominations agree with us on the nature and importance of marriage.

Cohabitation precedes 60% of marriages.

Our understanding of God’s plan and doctrine gives us an eternal perspective that does not allow relationships and marriages other than man and woman.

Man’s laws can not make moral what God’s laws make immoral.

Laws legalizing same sex marriage do not change God’s laws regarding marriage.

We should, like our ancestors, push our handcarts forward with the same fortitude they did.
