Thomas S. Monson - Sunday am session

President Monson stated that he would write in her journal that this has been the most inspiring conference he attended.

Tomorrow would have been his 65th wedding anniversary.

His wife was the love of his life. His trusted confidante and friend.

This conference marks 50 years since he was called to the Quorum of the 12 by President David O. McKay.

Never did he hear a word of complaint from his wife.

She was an angel indeed.

His testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been a comfort to him. He knows their separation is just temporary. He knows they will be reunited one day never to be separated. This knowledge sustains him.

When the pathway of life takes a cruel turn there is the temptation to say “Why me?”

We sometimes feel abandoned, heart broken and alone.

We become impatient for a solution to our problems.

Shall I falter or shall I finish?

Remember that others have been burdened with many of our same struggles and have overcome.

Make the gospel of Jesus Christ the center of your lives.

We will still experience difficult challenges but we will be able to face them head on.

Such comfort is priceless.

Sadness and suffering is universal.

From the bed of pain, from the pillow wet with tears, we are lifted heavenward.

Our Heavenly Father who gives us so much to delight in also knows that we learn and grow as we face and survive the trials that must pass.

Become something different that what you were.

Become more spiritually refined.

Only the Master knows the depth of our trials. He offers us eternal peace during times of adversity.

Whether it is the best of times or the worst of times, He is with us.

May we strive to be close to our Heavenly Father. To do so we must pray to Him and listen to Him every day.
