The lobbying of extremely liberal left industries.

I wanted to mention that I had noticed that many of the organizations or people whom are lobbying for big change in the USA or the world whom find fault with places like

Wall Street or Wal-Mart never, mention the "Vice Industries"

I had read online that the #1 site online for pornography is worth 56 million dollars

But why is it considered ok for "vice" industries such as Casinos, Alcohol or Pornography to make large amounts of profit selling products who's blue prints are strictly designed to degrade family life not held at the same pedestal of socialist criticism ss McDonalds.

The way I understand it is: Wal-Mart , McDonalds, & Wall Street are Evil,

Pornography industry: Gambling, and in the future , the legalization of marijuana industries. are Not Evil

Has anyone else noticed this?

The average pot dealer or liquor store owner operating in a community has done more to damage the quality of life, for an American citizen to interfere with opportunity then what McDonald's minimum wage jobs will ever do.

Something is wrong with the motivation in a society as a whole. When the libraries close at 5pm, and the bars close at 2am

Heh, I see your point. I've never heard those decrying big business or capitalism, ever say anything bad about those last three. (And make no mistake, the legal marijuana industries are here now.)

When you're an agenda-driven activist, you pick your drum to beat on, and you avoid ticking off potential allies. That's not unique to the left.

because those industries impact people more then porn and casinos

there are a lot of poor people making not a living wage at walmart-more people directly effected by these places, more people are vocal about it.

humans have been drinking alcohol for thousands of years, we've been gambling and making pornography for thousands of years

these things aren't new.

It's because no matter what you believe in this world, if you work at McDonalds, then you are making a terrible wage, anyone can understand and can speak out about that.

Not everyone believes pornography to be evil, or abstain from alcohol and gambling.

And not everyone who drinks is a drunk, and not everyone who gambles is an addict (and not everyone who watches pornography is having a failing relationship-some couples are more open, some watch together... people's opinions change across the board for those things, but for making a terrible wage, I think most people can agree on that)

A lot of people have to work in those awful jobs-and as I said, are obviously modivated to do something about that.

Oh cool - I get a chance to argue with Lakumi!

It's because no matter what you believe in this world, if you work at McDonalds, then you are making a terrible wage, anyone can understand and can speak out about that.
Consider the tens of thousands of young women who get suckered or drugged into making a movie they'll regret. They all pretty much make a horrible wage, even before you factor in the addictions and abuse and human trafficking costs. But there's nobody to speak out about it. Those on the camera are stigmatized out of relevance. Those behind the camera all support what's happening. The customers don't want to know or don't care about the downside because it sort of ruins the experience (or maybe it doesn't) . And the rest of us tend to focus our energies thinking about other things, because it's hard to come to grips with the active and profitable sex slave trade happening throughout the world. It's so much easier to just hate WalMart.

Yes more people work for low wages at Wal-Mart. .

But there is never any mention about any of the vice industries taking away from time management or lowering the standards for opertunitites.

I come from a blue collar family who drank, smoked, and watched pornography as well.

However, now that I am much older, I had befriended more successful people in the community. People whom have become doctors or obtained masters degrees in advanced studies and make a lavish living.

1 correlation between this opportunity to be successful in the USA compared to the Wal-Mart workers; is in their household all of these vices where absent.

Why is it Ok for Budweiser to market alcohol to someone's father who will prevent them from becoming educated, and taking advantage of American opportunity.

The far left doesn't think about these things. They are often times not motivated enough or disciplined enough to recognize these distractions. Non of the protesters on occupy wall street have ever said,

" Leave our community "Budweiser distributors", you are distracting us from gaining higher opportunity, we can not work or study up to 18 hours a day with you lowering the moral of the community standards".

The latter believe, it feels good and doesn't hurt anyone, so they must not be greedy corporations. At least that is how I interpret it.

Morals hamper the ability to control, a person with strong conviction and strong moral values is a very hard person to control. that is why those "industries" are not brought up in media, to protect them because they erode a persons moral foundations enabling them to be more easily swayed to what the societal engineers would have them do. but in the end everyone is free to choose. free to never partake of those vices, free to partake, and free to realize their mistake and walk away from it, to get a better life.

See I don't believe that at all, no one in my family drinks or gambles or the like and yet I won't get to go to collage or anything.

I never drink or alter my conciousness in any way, and yet I am on the bottom rung, and that won't change.

It's nice to assume that alcohol and gambling destroys all households (however it is present in many I've seen, other family for example, and they are very successful people, and I abstain and have nothing).

But its flawed and rather silly to just make a broad assumption about that.

Sometimes people don't have the means to get ahead, there is always going to be poor people, people who can't rise higher, because-well education costs and where do you get the money for that?

As such depression and sadness kicks in and some people can't deal with it.

I can deal with my sadness and general bleakness of life, but I'd be lying if I said I never considered going to a bar for free peanuts and awful ambience.

You have nothing to loose when you have nothing at all.

No one wants to actually make anything better for the lower classes, just spout nonsense and take away the few things that they have because the better feel its wrong, because they could never understand why anyone would take to those things.

There are two sides to every coin, perhaps rather then blaming alcohol itself, you should find out the why. No one drinks because a stupid commercial tells them to, they drink because they want to forget their bland, joyless life.

I take some offense to the McDonalds=low wages and therefore is evil remark.

My last career was respectable and even rather classy. I was making less than many a McDonald's employee. My job required a college degree and a handful of skill sets. Granted, plenty of people lodge complaints at the name of the organization I worked for, but I took the job willingly, knowing how much it paid. Sure, I was known to whine about how I wished I were making more, but there I was just the same.

Lakumi, the reason you are on the bottom rung and your place will never change is because you aren't doing a single thing about it. There are far too many success stories for me to believe for a second every poor person is doomed to remain poor forever. Public education is free, people can work their ways through college, not to mention student loans and grants. And yes, I have a doctor in my ward with Asperger's and severe depression that began in childhood.

you don't know what I do, don't just assume anything.

I did have a job (mind you it was pitiful and they treated me like absolute trash, 10 hours a week at minimum wage really wasn't worth it)

I certainly don't plan on staying in this worthless town, which will give me a bit more of a chance

I always found student loans to be a bit of a ganble, if things don't work out, I could have a looming debt for a long, long time

(the only thing aspergers really effects with me is my general dislike of other human beings)

I assumed nothing. You're the one who said you are going to stay on the bottom rung forever. The rest of my post was merely a list of common ways people get ahead.

well I just used myself as an example, I don't properly fit into this thread for the most part since I have always abstained from alcohol and gambling - but I've known many who do fall down those paths and their reasons why, and as I said, people never want to go for the root of the issue, they just pick at it as if that will change everything.

What do you think is the root of the issue?

If you're going to use yourself as an example, assume people will take that example for all it's worth in the post. It was all I had to go by.

Now, you're right. When people get stuck in dark paths, it's not easy getting out and yes, they may even need help getting out. I am all for programs that assist with that. What I am not for is the mentality that they are completely incapable in all areas of their lives for improving themselves. Just because they need help does not justify the crime to other humans that come from the porn and drug industries.

I still don't understand how pornography hurts a single person, or a person in a relationship where both parties have nothing against it?

(or where both parties enjoy it)

You're assuming all parties in the creation of the pornography were willing. It's not the most liberating business for women, contrary to what many would have you believe.

I'm talking about the customer base right now, I do agree though, and could cite some sources but... don't think that's appropriate

How much of the customer base is taking the type to make sure their purchased pornography is cohersion- free?

If some people can complain about the hidden darkness of Wal-Mart and McDonalds, why can't others complain about the hidden darkness of pornography and drugs?

well drugs are illegal, I would assume everyone knows that meth labs are bad, but there is no meth company, no crack company.

If you picket against crack, what point is that? Really?

And drugs has no hidden darkness, its always darkness, there is no good to crack.

pornography is a much greyer area, since not everyone believes it to be evil or bad.

Not everyone is on the same page about it, because people have different beliefs and that clashes with one another.

People already do complain about the "evils" of pornography, but it would seem they are the minority in that clash (or some feel its not the main issue in society, I donno my feelings on pornography aren't cut and dry, and would take a bunch of writing to explain).

Okay, so what you're saying is that McDonalds and Wal-Mart don't pay enough to those unable to find other jobs and are therefore stuck in a lousy system, while those involves with drugs and pornography got in of their own free wills without any institution affecting them? Is that correct at all?

no I never said that-all i said was no one would say drugs are good, but there's no one in charge of the whole thing to speak out against

that's all

Why wont' you get to go to college ? Community college as a start is very inexpensive.

Do you live with family? What are your opertunitites

I know much of what I'm posting from first hand experience. My father was an educated man, but you would never guess it to be so

He had taken LSD more then 300 times, according to my mother, and he also drank a pint of vodka every day. But that is why he was dead at 58.

A lot of the problem is, when your strung out, on porn or drugs, it changes your attitude.

I wasn't given a golden ticket in my life, by God or family. I am nearly 35 and have been working on an BS degree for 8 years. So please do not think I can not relate to you.

But through my experience, growing up in a house hold that used drugs, alcohol and pornography. I could see early on, that all of these things, where a burden to success.

It seems that the majority of the population do not want to try to put in a 12 or 18 hour day during the weekends, studying.

I donno where you got that

Y'all are talking at cross-purposes here.

Lakumi, let's take the Pornography Industry versus Wal-mart.

People "Occupy Wal-mart" because people believe they are lousy to their employees. They don't "Occupy Wal-mart" because customers are harmed by their products.

In the same token, Backroads is asking, why are there no "Occupy <insert Porn company here>". They are even more lousy to their employees.

So, are you then saying that the Porn industry is not lousy to their employees like Wal-mart is because of the moral values of the people consuming porn material? That doesn't make sense.
