Books about Mormon History?

I am wondering what the best books are for learning about Mormon History? I'm looking for information about the history of the mormon church, prophets, etc.

Is pretty good. It is a Biography of Joesph Smith which of course means its a lot of early church history is covered

I would say that biographies are a good source of history. The ones I would recommend are:

Mormon Enigma:Emma Hale Smith by Linda King Newell and Valeen Tippetts Avery...and

Brigham Young: Pioneer Prophet by John G. Turner

You might also look at the series on CD that Truman Madsen made about Joseph Smith. They are excellent.

There's an Institute of Religion manual that you can get through the distribution center with a good overview of Church history. I think it's called, "History of the Church".
