recommend question-ask the Bishop?

So, I am getting closer and closer to going to the Temple! I've spoken with my Bishop about going to the Temple. In the past I have had WOW issues-but have resolved them. My Bishop wanted me to go a specific amount of time making sure I am over my issues. About two weeks shy of the "3 months" timeline he gave me we will be going to see my husband's family. They have meant so much to me and have been such an awesome support and example of how to live the Gospel. I would love to go to the Temple when we visit and have my sister-in-law be my escort.

I was thinking of asking my Bishop what he thought of me going earlier than we had discussed so I could go with my family. I don't want him to think I'm pressuring him-I will totally understand if he still wants me to wait. I talked to a friend in my ward about it and she thinks it's worth asking. I just don't want to be disrespectful and waste the Bishop's time.

I've never been more committed to living the WOW and have no doubt that I will be able to keep it up! So I'm not worried that I will have problems like I had in the past. I've even gone on vacation (Vegas!) and had no issues keeping the WOW-which I always did in the past when we've gone on a trip. No addictions per se- I just loved my starbucks and wine-and it took me a while to gain a testimony of the WOW

I liked starbucks until I saw all of what I was spending on it lol

only tea like thing I drink is made from dandelions and its more of a soup since you leave them in and eat them...that's camp food though not normal cuisine. Interestingly enough you can make coffee with dandelions too (well coffee substitute)... tea can be of really any plant, not sure if that goes in the WoW or if anyone ever even thought "hey is tea made from nettles or clovers part of it or not?"

Hi foodforthought. I hope you're having a good day! :)

I wouldn't feel bad or shy about asking your bishop what you want to ask him. I think that you are taking the right approach which is to ask and make your feelings known but to respect and be perfectly content with what the bishop ultimately decides is the best thing to do in your situation.

Congratulations on your continuing effort to overcome your WoW trials and gaining a testimony of the WoW. Keep up the good works!

The tea in the WoW is referring specifically to the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). It is not referring to herbal drinks that are often referred to as tea but do not contain the actual tea plant. For instance, taking blackberry leaves and boiling them in water to make a "tea" is not against the Word of Wisdom. More appropriately the blackberry leaf drink (and other non-tea plant drinks) should be called an herbal drink rather than a tea.

I would ask him. I can also tell you if I were a Bishop I would be ok with your going two weeks earlier. Just my opinion.

I think it's interesting that many view the use of green tea as acceptable. Whereas green tea is of the exact same plant, it seems fairly obvious to me that usage of it is unacceptable. I have used thermogenic pills in the past that incorporated green tea. I have discontinued use of anything that contains it now.
