Church resources were made available to those in the Philippines following the typhoon.

Caring for the poor and needy is a fundamental part of the gospel.

Central to the Lord’s plan in caring for the poor and needy is the law of the fast.

As followers of the Savior we have a personal responsibility to care for the poor and the needy.

We should fast and give a fast offering equivalent to the the amount of what was eaten.

Why should we fast?  If we call the Lord will answer.

We are a covenant making, commandment keeping people.

When we fast and give an honest fast offering, we contribute to the Lord’s storehouse.

We are promised extraordinary blessings.

Even young children can be taught to fast as they understand and are able to do so.

The fast is complete when the fast offering is delivered to the Lord’s agent..the Bishop.

Fast offerings is a temporary resort.  It is intended to support life, not lifestyle.

Caring for the poor and needy has the potential to soften hard hearts.

Caring for the poor and needy is a sign of spiritual maturity.
