Thomas S. Monson - Priesthood Session

Recommended Posts

We are a miracle of engineering.

We have been provided a way to determine the direction we will travel as we sail the seas of life.

A man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder.  Never likely to reach its course.

Beware of the details, the pitfalls, the traps.

We cannot be deceived by those who will lead us astray.

We pause to pray, we listen to that still small voice that speaks to our souls.

Too often many fall to the temptations that come to all of us.

We live in a complex world.

Sin surrounds us.

Ours is the responsibility to be worthy of the glorious blessings that our Father in Heaven has in store for us.

Are we standing in holy places?

Pause to consider the consequences.

Those who hold the Priesthood of God can make a difference.

Righteousness can help to illuminate an otherwise dark world.

People are looking to you for leadership.

We are strengthened by truth.

We reach out, we reach up to receive heavenly help.

A protection of safety can be ours.

Throughout the history of the world, Satan has worked tirelessly for the destruction of the world.

As we seek heavenly help our rudder will not fail.

As we go through our voyages may we sail safely through life.

May our testimonies be as strong as that of Jacob.

With the rudder of faith guiding our passage, we too shall find our way back to God.

President Monson has drawn on the story of the Bismarck before.  I think it must resonate with him, given his own naval experience during World War 2.

I've got a confession to make: I didn't really have a testimony of President Monson as a prophet--at least, not in the same sense as President Hinckley.  I still had a testimony of Christ, of the restoration, of previous prophets, and of the modern Church, and I trusted that Monson was the Lord's anointed--but honestly, I just couldn't see the mantle.

But last night--I can't explain why; but I saw it.

God is good.
