Bonnie Oscarson - Women's Session

Recommended Posts

How blessed we are this evening to be united as women in love.

Few of us will ever have to face an angry mob but there is a war going on where our basic beliefs are being attacked. Specifically the family.

Little did we know that the proclamation to the family would be so needed today. They are as true today as they were when given to us 20 years ago.

It is still important to teach the Lord’s pattern.

Each of us have a part to play in the plan.

Heavenly Father will honor his promises made to those of us that keep our covenants.

One of the hardest challenges is to have faith in the Lord’s timing.

We need to be defenders of the family.

We need to boldly defend the roles of family and marriage.

Even when the world is shouting that they are outdated and irrelevant.

If is the Lord plan it should also be our plan.

Marriage is between a man and a woman.

There must be a husband and a wife sealed in the House of the Lord.

We need to continue to model righteous marriages.

Let us be defenders of marriage as the Lord has proclaimed it.

We need to elevate the roles of mothers and fathers.

We need to teach our sons and daughters that there isn’t any greater honor than that of mother and father.

We need to teach them to exalt the roles that mothers and fathers play in the plan.

Being a mother and father is something of great worth.

Every child should feel that they are the highest priority to their parents.

God and our earthly mothers are partners in this sacred role.

We should make our homes places of refuge, holiness and safety.

Let us make our homes second in holiness only to the temple.

Let us help build the Kingdom of God by defending the family and the home.

I love this idea of being defenders of the Family Proclamation. This was my favorite talk during this session. I loved her words on teaching our children. At one point she said something like "teach the ideal but to also plan for contingencies." That struck me particularly. I must need to teach that to my kids.

I loved the example she gave of the mother who was inspired to become a presenter for career day at her kids school and presented the career of mother. That woman has the chutzpah i wish i had. What a great example of being a defender of the Family Proclamation.
