Boyd K. Packer - Saturday a.m. Session

Recommended Posts

The end all activity of the members of the Church is to see a family happy and sealed together for time and all eternity.

The commandment to multiply and replenish the earth has never been rescinded.

The power of procreation is not just a part of the Plan.  It IS the plan.  The key to the Plan of Happiness.

Our exaltation is dependent on how we react to physical desire.

Married couples are tempted by many different things but love does grow stronger.

True love requires serving.

Physical intimacy is to only be shared with your one and only.  Your spouse.

Love is nourished by the coming of children.

The spirit and the body are the souls of men.

A bridle is used to direct and restrain.  We need to bridle our passions.

Satan will do everything in his power to destroy this gift.

We cannot escape the consequences when we transgress.

Our physical bodies when harmed are able to repair themselves.  Our spirit, when damaged, is harder to repair.

The greatest rewards we can receive in this life is our children and our grandchildren.

Through the atonement, families can be together through the eternities.

If we truly repent, He has promised that he will truly atone.

You can escape your heartache by accepting the atonement of Jesus Christ.

The atonement can wash clean every stain no matter how difficult or how long.

The atonement is individual.  Put the atonement to work.

This talk sounded a lot like a previous talk he gave. I guess it was a devotional address at BYU (maybe '92), that was published in the Eternal Marriage Institute manual as a significant portion of the lesson on sexuality and chastity: https://www.lds.org/manual/eternal-marriage-student-manual/intimacy-in-marriage?lang=eng

I think many of the talks cover the same talks or former talks are used to develop the talk.  For the most part the same topics are covered yearly.  I listen to eternal truths spoken in his voice with nostalgia.  It's the voice which I've heard over and over again and will continue to even when he's gone beyond the veil.  I hope we get to hear again there too.
