Dallin H. Oaks - Saturday a.m. Session

What do we do with the Savior’s teachings as we live our lives?

Converts not being rooted in the word can be scorched along the way.

Even life long members can fall into this.

If we are not rooted in the teachings of the gospel and regular in its practices, any of us can develop a stoney attitude.

If the emblems of the Sacrament are being passed and you are texting, playing video games and denying yourself the spiritual side, you are severing your spiritual roots and moving yourself to stoney ground.

Wherever we are in our spiritual journey we are all tempted.

Wealth is not a sign of heavenly favor.

Jesus praised the Good Samaritan who used the same coinage to help another as Judas used to betray Him.

Our commitment is supposed to be hard. It is supposed to be impractical.

We need to really live what we profess to believe.  It needs to be a priority.  In everything we do.

Some hearts are hard and unprepared...some hearts are stoney and some hearts are set

How can we prepare ourselves to be that good ground and be that good harvest?

We have the seed of the gospel word.  It is up to each of us to set the soil.

We are converted by prayer, scripture reading and partaking of the Sacrament.

We must also seek that mighty change of heart.
