The Nature of “Policy” in the Church
Most outside the Church—and many in it—do not understand what “Church policies” are all about. Some treat them something like a corporate manual of policies and procedures—things that must happen, or direct revelation. These are the rules, if you like, that the corporation agrees to be governed by, and violating those policies and procedures is always cause for censure.

This is not how policies work in the Church of Jesus Christ. The official policies are, in essence, the distilled experience of the senior leaders of the Church, often over generations. **However, decisions in the Church are not made by policies—they are made by judges in Israel. At the local level, that is stake presidents and bishops, guided by revelation.** They have the discretion to receive revelation in a specific situation and  make exceptions to the policy.

Here is my understanding of the previous policy.. SS marriage posed a unique problem for the church and they needed to establish policies to deal with it. Church leaders decided to use the polygamy family policies and apply them to SS couples.

Over the years, church leaders realized SS families, unlike polygamists, posed no threat of changing the church, so here we are. They are ordinary people who love the church and have no agenda other than to live out their live as faithful members.

In the young Joseph Smith's time and place, "money digging" was a popular, and sometimes respected activity. When Joseph was 16, the Palmyra Herald printed such remarks. The local newspapers reported on "money digging" activities "digging for money hid in the earth is a very common thing and in this state it is even considered as honorable and profitable employment" "One gentleman...digging...ten to twelve years, found a sufficient quantity of money to build him a commodious house. "another...dug up...fifty thousand dollars!" [2]

And, in 1825 the Wayne Sentinel in Palmyra reported that buried treasure had been found "by the help of a mineral stone, (which becomes transparent when placed in a hat and the light excluded by the face of him who looks into it)." [3] The Smith's attitude toward treasure digging was similar to a modern attitudes toward gambling, or buying a lottery ticket

Church fathers -- early evidence of apostasy

Hegesippus, a historian of the period immediately following apostolic times (A.D. 110-180), is quoted by Eusebius in his Ecclesiastical History as saying:
the church continued until then as a pure virgin and uncorrupt virgin: whilst if there were any at all attempted to pervert the sound doctrine of the saving gospel, they were yet skulking in dark retreats; but when the sacred choir of apostles became extinct, and the generation of those that had been privileged to hear their inspired wisdom had passed away, then also the combination of impious errors arose by fraud and delusions of false teachers. These also, as there were none of the apostles left, henceforth attempted, without shame to preach their false doctrine against the gospel of truth.[4]

Ignatius (A.D. 30-107) a student of St. John the Apostle, said in his epistle to the Ephesians, that he was “the last of the faithful that are there (Antioch)."[5] It must be remembered that Antioch had one of the highest population of Christians at that time. If he was the “last” faithful member in a largely Christian city, what about the rest of the world, that also didn’t have apostles and prophets to correct and lead them?
Ignatius mentioned "the false prophets and the false apostles" who had already come before his time.[6] He goes on to say that “the last times are come upon us.”[7]

Cyril, who served as the bishop of Jerusalem between A.D 349 and 387. said, after quoting 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10,

thus wrote Paul, and now is the falling away. For men have fallen from the right faith; and some preach the identity of the Son with the Father, and others dare to say that Christ was brought into being out of nothing. And formerly the heretics were manifest openly; but now the church is filled with heretics in disguise. For men have fallen away from the truth, and have itching ears...most have departed from right words, and rather choose the evil, than desire the good. This, therefore, is the falling away.”[12]

<< KJV translation errors in BOM

Joseph Smith used the KJV to assist in his translation of Biblical passages quoted from the Bible in the Book of Mormon. Translators use this technique all the time to use previous translations. Thsee errors are very minor.

The latest and most surprising discovery is strands of silk found in the hair of an Egyptian mummy from about 1000 B.C., long before regular traffic on the Silk Road and a good millennium before silk was previously thought to be used in Egypt.

<<His church is still with us

The Bible disagrees with you ==>>>>>>>>>>>>

Eph.2 [20] And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Eph 4 [11] And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: [13] **UNTIL we all come in the unity of the faith.... ** [14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine,

Matt.16 [19] And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
The Bible says it, we believe it.

We do not live under the LAW OF Moses. The law of grace is not anarchy -- "If ye love me keep my commandments" We will not earn our way into heaven by works of the Law, but be judged by our works under the law of the love of Christ.

"Well done thy true and faithful servant"  OR "I never knew you."

Let's see where your argument takes us.

An angel of light appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus. He went on to teach another gospel of "faith only" and that our mouth saves us -- James exposed this false gospel that "Faith without works is dead and dead faith cannot save anyone" and that the devils confess Christ and tremble.'

Brilliant! Soooo, by your very own argument, we must UNLEARN, and that Paul was a false prophet and we must reject his writings.
We will be judged by our works.

You will discover that the antiMormons have done the brainwashing, such as "Jerusalem" thing.

Jesse is an example of their inferior product. "Constantly wrong but never in doubt"

If you're talking about where Jesus was born, I've got a big surprise for most people who have seen Apollo 13.

If you talk to anyone about the space center that Apollo 13 radioed the famous line,"... We have a problem."  Where is that NASA space center located?  Virtually everyone would say "Houston."  WRONG!!! INCORRECT!!! YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID!!!

NASA's space center is actually located in a little suburb of Houston called Webster.  It's located about 5 to 10 miles outside of Houston proper (depending on where you're measuring from.

Bethlehem is a suburb of Jerusalem located about 5 to 10 miles outside of Jerusalem.  Gee, what a perfect parallel.
