Using Quotes

This is really a way for me to learn how to use quotes on this website. I used to be able to do the following (without the brackets) and quote a person: (

This is my quote

) and that would work. Now it doesn't add the person or source I am quoting, and my quotes get all jumbled up.

So, how do you do it?

<quote="Test">Is this the right way?</quote>

Test post one.

Okay, so it appears that the website prefers that I use the "quote" button to insert quotes that are separated and not jumbled.

Is there another way? Is there any way to assign the quote to a person or to a source like in the olden days?

Thanks!

What if I quote a post and then add another quote?

The only ways I see to get the quote block are:

  1. Click the "Quote" link at the bottom of someone else's post. (System attributes the quote in the "header" thereof.)
  2. Highlight a portion of a post and click the "Quote this" text that pops up. (System attributes the quote in the "header" thereof.)
  3. Click the quote icon in the toolbar of your post.  System identifies it as a "Quote" but doesn't provide a way to edit the "header" thereof.  To do that, most folks will do one of the following:
Quote

So and so said, "Something or other."

or

Quote

Something or other.

-- So and so, Source Info.

...or something similar.

Thanks, zil. I was messing around with it last night and I was able to figure some things. I appreciate your directions.
